I guess I'm just doomed to noid woes. I fixed the Skinner I was having probs with. Now I'm trying to get the Bonebrake working. The noid is cyling and firing the marker but is venting out one of the exhaust ports. It does this no matter how little pressure is put to it above 0 psi. There has got to be a reason for this, but I am not that familiar with the Humphrey internals. Any ideas?

Like I say it fires, but is venting the whole time almost like it has too much presure.

spitball here, is the piston in backwards? I can't remember if they can be put in backwards or not.

If maybe the orings aren't lining up then that could cause the constant vent.

Pistons in the HEA and HEB can't be backwards.

You don't have a spare to try do you? It probably is the noid. Pull off the cap on the end away from the electronics. The piston end should be flush with the housing from this side.

Pull out the little grease seal (has a white plastic "cap" over it) that is in the piece you just removed and see if its packed with lube.

If it has been taken apart, its always possible something was left out, put in backwards or upside down.

Also make sure your ram o-rings are good. Specifically the one in the middle on the outside and the one on the ram shaft. As long as the noid is off, clean the gasket with alcohol. Take off the manifold and do the same to the o-rings and body. My first bushy leaked like this and it took days to figure out is was the manifold o-rings. Not sure if it was lube or they just got out of position.

I have disassembled the noid a few times now.

Should the endcap seal be "packed" with lube? It's not what I would call "Packed" but there was a little in there.

The spool is sitting flush with the noid body with the endcap removed

I have two additional solenoids I can work pars from a PM noid and a Timmy noid.

Will try the ram o-rings,manifold o-rings and swapping spools with the PM and Timmy noids. Will get back to you Sunday, going to the farm to shoot Hogs.

No, the amount of lube in there should be minimal.

No Hogs shot, but my Brother's AR-10 blew up in his face..That was exciting.

Swapped spools, armature bodies, endcaps etc. all still venting air. frigg'n wierd. I suppose I could swap another noid/manifold on there and see what happens.

Swapped another noid on from a working marker same HEA noid. Still venting out the exhaust port nearest the electronics. Thought maybe it was an LPR issue...don't know how it could be but thought I'd eliminate that as a possibility, and no change still venting.

Swapped gaskets = No change
Swapped Noids = No change
Swapped spools = No change
Swapped noid bodies = No change
Swapped LPRs = No change
Swapped Rams = No change

My noodle is baked. Still looking for suggestions. I'm about to call ICD to see what/if they have any ideas.

Did you try the manifold? I had an issue with mine that the o-rings under were not sealing. I ended up having to change them all, and clean everything with denatured alcohol to get it to seal. It was doing the same thing that you describe.

yup, you are down to the manifold. ICD did have a bad batch, a while back. The oring grooves were too deep causing it to leak.

I don't have an extra humphrey manifold to try. I did however isolate that it is indeed a noid/manifold issue as I installed a skinner noid/manifold and it sealed fine. I know it's not the noid. So that leaves:
1.Manifold
2.manifold o-rings
3.noid to manifold gasket.

Correct me if I've missed something. pm me if you have a humphrey manifold.
