Im going to invest in a chrono so i can do some better testing from home without bothering my friend for his. I dont need any features other than FPS. It doesnt seem like there are that many choices out there. It seems that this one is popular.

www.ansgear.com/Sports...chrono.htm

Anyone have it or used it? any other suggestions? Thanks!

Personally i would go with the shooting chrony F1 (or the big red chronos you see at the feilds) or the X-Radar (if you want a handheld) I've used all three of those (including the one you listed) and found the F-1 to be superior plus you don't have to hold it.

I think it depends on how 'anal' you are about results. The level of accuracy (+/-) is what differs as you go up the chain. When I got mine, I wanted accuracy, so I bought one that looks like this:

cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SHOOT...48405f91c1

I found an older model of a 'PACT Precision Chronograph' for like 70 bucks on ebay.

I used one of those guys at the field last time I played. My gripe with it is that you have to push the button between each shot to reset it. Other than that, it was good.

For a hundred bucks I'd definitely try and get ones like the F1 shooting chronys. The ones that you don't have to hold are so much easier to use. I went to a field recently that had one of those handheld chronos and I swear it didn't even register half the shots I made. I wasted twice as much paint trying to chrono with a handheld than I would have with one of the table mounted ones.

If compactness is an issue, then go handheld, but otherwise I'd try and get the F1.

I have this guy. It works well, but it has to be in the sun/good light to use it.

I've had good luck using my portable X-Radar for over 2 years now. I chrono my markers at home at 290-295 fps and it chrono's at the field at around 280-285 fps. Only drawback is that you have to hold it over the barrel and hold the button down to use it.

this one is by far the nicest handheld and most accurate ive come accross.. i have a big red and this is on par with it every shot with a 2-3 fps difference but mostly reads the same numbers every shot
