torrents have rendered library rentals useless.
If I can get it free from the Library, why can't i download it for free as well? I understand that the library buys 3 or 4 copies, but that's menial pennies in the rand scheme of things. It's not like I'm selling my movies to anyone. It's pretty much a "watch once and then delete" system. Plus, I don't have to worry about all the people germs and children snot that the library stuff is covered in. |
any reason why education is so low in the country? probably has to do with germs covering all the books. i'm not talking about movies, but the general disdain you have for what appears to me, as anything you have to do with the library.
i don't torrent, i don't download stuff and watch it latter. when i'm at work, i have no internet, so even if i did want to, i can't. i would rather watch a movie on a TV, where i can plug the sound through a stereo than through tiny speakers in my laptop. plus, i do enjoy watching the behind the scenes, the extras like commentary from the actors, directors, producers, writers et al. AFAIK, you can't get them with downloaded movies.

Man, I lived off of the library when I was growing up. I've got nothing against it whatsoever. I wish I read more, these days. I guess most of my reading is done on the internet now. REddit can have some fascinating things on it.
My PC is hooked up to my TV and stero system I can do it with my laptop as well, with an HDMI cable, but that's extra work.

Fury
It was slightly interesting seeing a WWII movie from a tank crew's point of view but other than that it was quite boring. There wasn't much of a story, the action wasn't compelling. It was just so linear. The acting was sub par for the most part & it was just really poorly written. The guy that played Shane on the walking dead particularly stank the place up. I was really looking forward to this but was hugely disappointed.
Gone Girl
Definitely kept me interested up until the end. I can honestly say I didn't see the twists coming. Still, when I looked back at the movie as a whole, knowing what happened it wasn't all great a story. A decent movie but I expected to be shocked when they finally revealed what really happened.
The Judge
Robert Duvall is possibly my favorite actor. Top 5 for sure. His performance in the judge didn't go anything to change my opinion either. Robert downey jr was also great as usual. I felt like a lot of things weren't fleshed out as much as they could have been but I still really enjoyed the movie.
Annabelle
Horror/supernatural "thrillers" don't do anything for me but I got roped into taking my kid & a few of her friends for her bday. I was bored to death the entire time. It was just so uninteresting. It wasn't shocking, it wasn't scary, it wasn't even creepy. I guess I didn't really get it. There's a demon that uses the doll as a conduit. It has the power to hurt & even kill people but it can't take a soul unless it's offered? I don't know. I just didn't like it at all.

I saw The Giver and it was a great movie, Id highly recommend seeing it! I cant really say much because anything I say would give it away, but it was well worth the entrance fee to see it.

You might like it. I've been called a movie snob because I generally don't like a lot of the movies I see. I'm the only person I know who's seen The Giver that didn't like it.

John Wick
Reminded me a lot of old Steven Segal movies. Extremely light on plot but heavy on badassery. Keanu Reeves isn't much of an actor so a role like this where the character has very little depth & not a ton of dialogue fit him well. I'd definitely be down for a sequel.

Watching "Fury" at the moment. My first impression is that it should be called "Cliche". I am writing this as i am watching it. I don't know what the message of the film is supposed to be. Is that war is hell? There are plenty of examples of that. Is it the demons which men must possess when nature of the beast must come out? 25 minutes in and i think that it is just a horrible sterotypes of the normal degregation of what you can do with a movie versus what you should do. Films like "Lone Survivor" or "Sniper" show the limits of what men have gone through in a much better way. Will finish and give a better synopsis of it, but i do not think it will be very good.
after review not very good indeed. There were no surprises, no moments of originality, nothing but cliches. I knew what was going to happen and who was going to die. I will give credit to th producers, they got a lot of the technical aspect thoroughly correct. For instance, the American tanks, realizing that the armor of their tanks was deficient through anything and everything on the tanks to give them something & in the movie the panzerfaust. The panzerfaust was the grand-daddy of the RPG. It was a one shot weapon that had a HEAT(high explosive, Anti-tank) warhead. It explodes on impact, and how it is designed is that it shoots a molten copper through the armor.
But, for the movie it is unimpressive. It pales to what Saving Private Ryan was or the whole of Band of Brothers series was. So there you have it...

The Wedding Ringer
I generally find Kevin Hart to be pretty funny though sometimes he can go a little overboard & that gets on my nerves a bit. Thankfully this movie had just the right amount of him while also letting the other characters add to it. It's not the funniest thing I've ever seen but I laughed pretty consistently through the whole movie. Reminded me a lot of the hangover.

So its been a while for me posting in here...
What did you guys think about deadpool? The first time I saw it, I thought it was overrated. I enjoyed it, but people billed it as such a raunchy movie and it wasn't.
The second time I watched it, I liked it a lot better. I new jokes were coming and I caught little tidbits and easter eggs that I hadn't seen the first time. For example, the finale battle takes place on a helicarrier from the Avengers.
