This is not in anyway directed to towards any one person on this forum or any other forum but something that just bothers me and I wanted to see if anyone else feels the same way.

So I have been balling since '98 and online trading since 2k. I started out using Warpig classifieds then moved on to Forums much like this one! I have been a paypal member since 2k and have bought and sold many many many thousands of $'s using it and never once ask for or paid fees until about 2 years ago. As a small business owner I dont give my customers a price and then ask them to pay my percentage of the credit card fee at check out. All of my costs are added into the product and/or services upfront and we negotiate from there as my costs are subject to change based on materials fluctuations.

I guess what I am getting at is that ANY money transaction is an implied act of business. As such I prefer to only do business with professionalism, and asking me to pay your fees is not professional and I often opt to not do business with such people unless its something hard to find. But when did all this crap start to happen? I feel that this is a form of padding profits and is quite rude when there is an inate cost of doing business. Maybe its just me and maybe its because I am a jewish but damn add it into your items cost upfront dont make me do your work!!

Anyone else of the same opinion or opposite opinion of me? I would really like to understand the mindset here.

many forums such as this one and others, when a mod sees that someone is trying to sell and asking for PP fees, they put a stop to it. which is why some people will PM you asking for it to be gifted. i personally don't like to gift things(unless they are a trusted friend, or extenuating circumstances).

which is why some people will include the fees, some people(like myself because i have a premier PP account) don't care about the fees, as PP won't always take them out. the fees pays for Paypal and the support that if something bad happens, they are there. so to me, fees are a small part of protection. i like to hash out those details before money changes hands. if someone wants the fees, in addition to shipping when it wasn't in the post, then i have a problem and won't deal.

the best way to deal is, to only deal with people up front. you might have to deal with someone with a unique part at times, otherwise, don't deal.

normally like places here, we are all friends, so fees one way will go the other. so, price a product up. i include a set price for shipping, and then add in a guesstimate of the PP fees and that's the sale price. if you don't, then it is either on the seller for not doing so, or they want it to move.

don't worry, the one thing(other than all ICD) with this place is we all look out for each other. no one here is willing to screw over anyone and if they do, Maloneoni will ban them with his iphone at lunch or something.

Has anyone every been scammed or messed with on ICDO? Not in the time since I've been here, anyway (that I can recall).

YOu mainly run into it on PbN. I think the reason for the shift in business practices, because of the new players. I mean, back in the day, people who played paintball where young adults and adults. This new generation of ballers are like 14-18, and kids like to rip people off.

Pay your paypal fees, don't ship first, and walk away from deals that are too good to be true. Could have saved myself some serious headache (and money) if someone would have told me those steps when I was 16.

Ya gifting is a bad idea as you lose the protection associated with trade scams. I have been scammed on paypal in the past circa 2002 just before I left for world cup I sold my 1 of 2 adrenalin angel(I still miss it dear) so I had the cash to pick up a brand new Emag while there. I had to place a claim but lucky me they moved fast but it did tie up a couple thousand for a few days.

Fgb I think you hit the nail on the head with it being kids. Since Im now in my 30s I have seen the shift in mentality in the game and mindset of the players over the years. Going to the sideline coaching crap which is really just cheating I think has a correlation to this form of business practice and overall attitude in the sport. Loss IMHO of some of the team reliance and closeness that we used to have on the field to a more lax system of play really forces more individuals to not build the same relationships based on honour that I feel is now missing from the sport.

PayPals TOS clearly states that asking a buyer to pay the fees is a violation. As such, we close all thread where a seller asks for that, and I notify mods on other sites when I run across it.

^ It's so annoying when people try and "game" the system for a few extra bucks. Just set your price for what you want after fee's, and avoid all the headache.

The only forum I see this happen on is PBN, which is a shame due to the sheer amount of transactions and product available there it is a good place to find things but you see it almost as often as not that someone is asking for their price plus fees.

In the end I never deal with those people unless they agree to their price including fees through PM's

I try my best to never do business in general on PbN, which is a shame because there is so much good stuff over there.

If anyone is looking to do business on PbN, I have like 50 positive over there, and can throw that around for you.

FoodPoosening and MiniBen are really legit. Also armory paintball is nice. For every 10 little a-holes on PbN you get a really decent power seller like them.
