Do what feels right to you, if you are ready to make that commitment then go for it.

aw damn, i forgot the other c.

if you get married through the church, they require 6 months of premarriage counseling, at least they do in my diocese.

wow.. I'm impressed guys... this is definitely not the same tone you would have gotten if you had posted this thread in pbnation LOL.

for the most part everything stated here is pretty spot on. the whole ring price doesn't matter but kind of does statement that everyone has mentioned is on the money.. no pun intended. yeah it really has to have meaning, but she will want to show it off so spend a good amount but also keep it within your means. starting off a marriage broke is not a good decision.

doesn't sound like religion is an issue but you need to sit down and discuss other major life decisions together. do you both share the same thoughts on kids like how many and when to have them and who will take care of them stay at home wife/father or babysitters if your both career oriented. do you both share the same views on work.. how much work, who works. finances are a biggie... discuss your thoughts on bank accounts whether shared or separate. do you share the same views about friends like how much time you/her spend with other people/friends going out together vs. going out with friends or sharing the same circle of friends alone time vs spending time together. what kind of weding do you/she want big or small civil or religious or both. have you both lived together.. i know in some religions it is frowned upon, but no matter how well you know the person it is not the same than actually living with them day in and day out. it is ok not to share the same views on all of these things, but knowing that you share different views and accepting them up front makes a big difference.

As for the 4/5 year engagement.. that seems a bit long but hey there is no rule saying that you can't especially knowing that (depending on the wedding) it can take a year of planning easily. so if you factor that in your engagement really will only be 3/4 years before you start getting into wedding mode.

a big plus is if both of you play paintball. i know it helps me and my wife immensely!!! Smile if she doesn't play dump her NOW and run!! j/k

^^IMO, there are 2 kinds of premarital counseling. 1- going to see a counselor and talking about what would happen if.... 2- dating and experiencing things/life/ups&downs between the two of you. I believe both are very important. (at least they were for us, but more #2)

IMO, the ring should be a reflection of her being/soul. All I did was look at every ring in the store and picked the one I thought was the best reflection of her. And then I gasped at the price, threw up a little in my mouth, and ran out of the store. Ok, not really, but remember, marriage is forever, you can always upgrade! (people seem to forget that)

I'm happy for you, finding my 'one' and getting married has been the best thing I've ever done. IMO, don't do a long engagement. (!!!!!) If you're not going to get married soon, just wait to ask.

set ramping to maximum. Rambo time! Lol. That wouldn't be very nice. I find it hard in games like that to let the kids play for 3-4 minutes before cleaning the field up. Usually all the poor noobs all find a bunker to sit behind and get to scared to do anything else. Once it gets to that point, it is time to roll. Twisted Evil

might be a good time to bust out a pump if you have one.
