hey i have an fs8 and i am trying to get the asa part that screws into the gun off from the main part of the hpr. i tryed a strap wrench and it would not move. if would could tell me how that would be great bc i have to clean the reg.

the guage might be hitting the top of the Hpr inside the ASA. try backing out the guage a few turns, and then unscrewiong the reg

Have you removed it before? If not it is most likely just "set" in place try heating it up with a blow dryer then unscrewing it. I mean "HEAT", on high and make sure itts warm then give it a shot it might just need to be broken free for the first time.

i'm having the same exact problem only with a friends promaster stock reg. We heated it up and still can't get the top part off, any other solutions?

Alright. What I am about to suggest is mainly used ONLY if you do not want to use the regulator that you are about to take off. However, this method is virtually foolproof.

Remove gauge from port.
Insert metal dowel/rod/something hard
Vice Grip on regulator.

Using the gauge port for leverage and the vice grip for friction, you should easily be able to remove it. Unfortunately, this method leaves some visual scars.

As far as the heating goes, different types of adhesives and loctite require relatively high temperatures in order to loosen their grip.

In my experience, when heating you need to heat it so that it's almost too hot to touch.

A minute on a blow drier just won't cut it.
