Taking about your obscure interests with people who don't share the interest is unbearable. But the worst is paintball because people think that since they own a 98 custom, they know about paintball.

I just stopped. I don't even let people know that I play, because it always turns into a knowledge battle. Plus people are never very interested. Thats why I like coming in here, or going to my local shop to talk about stuff. One time I brought in a bushy just so people would ask what it was, so we could talk about old school guns.

One of my favorite things is randomly meeting someone, and figuring out they play paintball, like PLAY PAINTBALL. It always leads to good discussions, because it seems like no one in the real world has even heard of paintball besides playing in their backyard.

I mean you can't blame people, they aren't interested din the sport, so they don't know anything about it. When people try to talk to me about carrs, I go into shutdown mode, because ares are about as niche-y and Jargon-y as paintball.

I have friends who don't share anynof the same interests i do, i just don't talk about them, i remember one time i tried to setup a private game with 10 or so of my track guys(scca auto-x) and they were oblivious to it or complained that it hurt, that was the last time i talked paintball. Another thing im into is punk rock music, that also is a topic to beat a dead horse over. i pretty much segregate my friends into groups, paintball, music and cars. i don't mix it up anymore.
