I recently picked up a new SCM III for a bushmaster. When I installed it, the spring was clearly under higher compression. I removed it and compared, and the SCM is about 1/8-1/4" longer than stock. Is this right, or did I get a wrong product? I am worried because it is now hard to force the valve open. I can't test because I still don't have the new solenoid. Thanks in advance.

The extender shaft in some SCMs was shorter than necessary, so a longer spring is needed... try springs; worst case, cut out enough links to make it the size you need, uncompressed...

or go to your local hardware store and get a lighter/shorter spring, further reducing your LPR setting.

Anyone know what the spring rate is for the stock spring? Or, even better, a Mcmaster-carr PN? I don't mind cutting the stock spring, but would like to get a new one if possible.
