Get this

A paintball marker that doesnt run on compressed gasses.

There are 4 motorized "raceways" (basically small conveyer belts on springs (to form to the size of the pb) that spin pretty fast (depends on how fast you want it to launch the ball) all at the same speed. The raceway that the ball drops onto pulls it into the other 3 and that speeds it into the barrel and shoots it out. There would be a trap door that is actuated by a solenoid so that it drops one paintball into the breech. Imagine the extreme rof's it could sustain w/ a motorized hopper or a q loader. Yes the breech would be square (unless they mold the raceways in a cupped shape but there could be a square to round "converter" that gently pushes the ball from the square shape to a nice round shape.

The reason for the springs between the raceways and the walls of the breech is so that the raceways can conform to the size of the ball (because as we know balls come in different shapes and sizes. There could be just one on a spring. As for the ball drop technology an iris system could be created where it forms cup around the bottom of a ball and expands to let it through and contracts to stop another ball from entering.

Basically how an airsoft gun works but it could revolutionize paintball as we know it.... Imagine just recharging your battery pack instead of paying for fills, no regulators, no chops pretty much after a while. This technology could be improved on pretty well. Pretty much it will suck batteries like a mofo but i think it could be worked on. And i wouldnt mind paying for a couple of rechargable battery packs instead of a HPA tank when i could recharge and reuse any time. This system would not only cut the cost of fills, the actual marker and stuff (G-d knows we need less things to spend money on in this game) it would make the marker a smaller package.

The possible problems i see with this technology is noise, vibrations coming from the constantly spinning raceways (maybe eye technology can be utilized to make them spin up quickly in the case of a ball) and the extreme battery usage (i'm thinking of small R/C car batteries for like every 1000 balls or something (dont quote me i'm no electrical engineer), motors burning out, if the raceways spin too fast and chop the ball it will be horrible to clean (If the parts are made of plastic and sealed then it should really be no problem), the excessive amount of electrical parts really take away from mechanical parts, more plastic instead of metal, slightly wider gun, probably shorter though, heating up of the pieces (metal pieces would be able to take more wear). That was one long sentence but other than those forseeable and probably alot more unforseen problems it seems like an interesting idea and who knows? Paintball may actually go the way of electronic (seeing as how all these guns are getting boards and the such) maybe paintball will get an upgrade (say paintball 2.0? Very Happy ).

I dont know i'm just spurting ideas out here but i would like to hear some feedback. Oh and if anyone tries to cop my idea you guys can witness it here first so i can at least get some credit Razz .

ah yes another unforseen problem. You would probably be screwed.. But then again these motors wont be THAT expensive so i guess you could replace it in a jiffy.

I'll stick with HPA. It gives paintball style when you understand the mechanics of airflow instead of a high speed conveyor belt. Every geek and nerd on Robots Wars will be making their own custom ones. AIR IS TEH ROX~!

interesting concept. Think about how quick an RC car uses its battery though and you are thinking about having multiple motors running simultaneously. Could work in theory.....but you'd have a hard time sliding into that bunker with a car battery strapped to you pack.

I'll give you an A- just for the "out of the box" thinking though. Very Happy

Definately an interesting idea, I agree. But I like the pros of air more than the cons of a battery hangin' on me like JD said Embarassed Cool
