if you want to get one new(part number 507001), they are 230 dollars. that is probably out of the question though.

Did you try steves longer screw tip? Go to a hardware store they should have them. You may have to grind them shorter though as one lenght may be too long another too short to take advantage of the remaining threads.

yea im gonna go tomorrow to try and find a longer screw to see if whatever remains of the threads will hold it as well as try to find a helicoil kit. i would like to repair it but if i have to just use a longer screw or even tap the body and manifold for a larger screw i will. thanks for the advice!

An it does not need to be supertight when you screw it down, just snug it to squeeze the o-rings a little.

I also re-tapped for the next size screw on my hacked up FS8. I think i used 5-40, but maybe even 6-32. IIRC, i had to file the head on the screw to reduce diameter, but I don't think I needed to drill the manifold for it.

i went today to 3 different hardware stores and none had a 4-40 =( smallest they all had was 6-32 so i ordered a 4-40 helicoil kit. Never done it but a couple of people have said to do it so we will see how that goes =P lol. I was thinking about just retapping the hole to a bigger size but figured helicoil is basically the same thing but i keep the same screw size.

The main thing with a helicoil is setup. Get the body secure, in a vice (wood or soft jaws wont kill the ano but will hold it). If you get the hole crooked your coil will follow.
