I was thinking that myself, about 2 weeks ago. I guess they're out of material to leave on the markers so they hav to use skins to define them now?

Either way, I'm not a huge fan of them at all.

anyone else notice how team edition markers have lost their creative edge? i mean, the laser engraving and anno jobs are nice, but they dont do any custom milling work any more. maybe i just have not looked in the right places, but all the team editions of the egos and the dye just have laser engraving with some bright anno. is this something new or do i just have an idealized vision of the past? am i crazy?

all taken from pbn's news section:
damage nt
ironman nt
a bunch of ego10s

there is a few more that have their gold ups expired, but i can assure you that these pl markers are all "very unique and different" and you cannot imagine the custom work that has been done.

sorry if this has been covered before, but it has been bothering me for some time now. if i am being unrealistic or unappreciative of custom anno and laser work, please, someone tell me.

Yes, "Team" markers are junk. They are all the same crap (I.E. Ego 10 or DM10) no modifications just a little water transfer printing on them.

I do think companies are being cheap about team markers. But also alot of these new markers have a lot less area and material to mill in designs that make them visible and stand out, So i can understand a little why they use the printing on them

I miss the days of when you bought a "team marker" or "special edition" it was significantly from the original. I realize that Eclipse has the SL line, but besides that, when you get a special edition all you're getting is a new anno and lazering which anyone could scan, copy and redo themselves. Like when ICD came out with the Lasoya Promaster, it was fairly different than the regular promaster, and not just in styling. If I'm going to be paying $100-$300 dollars more for a damn "special edition" or "team marker" I better be getting more than a piece of artwork, I better be getting some performance upgrades too.

Also, there's almost no art in milling anymore. The whole market is saturated markers that are milled some much there's almost no meat left to add lines and definition to the body.

i hate to bring up smart parts, but the milling for the both the pl sft and nxt shockers was pretty good stuff. they did not change the internals much, but alot of them had different triggers and stuff like that.

pl nxt shocker list
pl sft list

i guess there was alot more meat on the shocker to remove. but the customized the hell out of those. trigger frames, vertical adapters, bolt guides, feednecks milling, etc.

I have no idea - The tray is the pre -2k4. I think I'm going to assemble it and use it. I will eventually have the ano redone, probably next year, then it will go on the wall Smile
