My future brother in law is selling his shotgun. It is a Remington 870 express. It has never been shot and comes with the original box. He wants 250 for it.

What do you think of the price? I have wanted a shotgun for a while, but I do not know much about pricing.

And 10 points to anyone who can tell me what the title is a quote from.

Lock stock and two smoking barrels!

Ughh, I think you can get them new for a tad bit more, so yeah its a decent deal

*edit, Good Deal, new ones start at 370 and go up to 550 depending on barrels.

I would take that deal.

The 870 is like the Ak47 of the shotgun world. Rough tough and trusted by millions. Its arguably the standard by wich all other shotguns are measured by. You could own that shotgun forever and never need another one. It can do anything shotguns costing hundreds more can do except reload itself. That said I own a Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag, but I was looking for an 870 when I bought it.

I have an 870 Express and it's served me for 15 years without any problems. Shoots great, smooth action. $250 and you'll never really need another shotgun again. You may want a different shot gun down the road, say, something shiney, but you'll always be able to get parts for it even if you damage it yourself. You can get many different barrels for it to suit any type of shooting. Any accessory available for shot guns will be made to fit the 870.

Now it is just a matter of convincing the boss that I need to spend 250 dollars on something that we cannot eat or live in.

We are going to Minnesota for a wedding and to see my grandfather this summer. We are saving for plane tickets, so this is going to get tricky.

the deal might pass you by, but an 870 will always be there. if you can ask to put it on hold, or even a down payment, a couple of payments would ease the cost and the boss might not be so hard.

My future brother-in-law is willing to give me a little bit of time.

A payment plan is not a bad idea.
