i'm almost famous for being 6'1" 260 and making unseen moves. you just have to know what you can do and how to use it.

It is all in the timing.

I agree with Rudz. Play, find people you like and get along with.

My problem here is that none of people I play with on an irregular basis have any desire to take their game to the next level. I have abandoned my current hopes of a new team and just play for fun when I can.

If you only have 100 dollars of income a month, you might just hone your skills and play. Tournaments are expensive.

from someone who's been founder/captain of a team for over 12 years now... really think about trying to start your own team.. it is brutal! dealing with the normal day to day team stuff is not bad.. it's when you have to deal with players attitudes and dealing with drama that really gets old quick.

finding players that are committed and have the funds to play is hard. you always get people who are gung ho the first few months then peter out, leaving you trying to figure out what happened to everyone, where is everyone at?

then of course there is always that one guy who thinks they can run the team better! maybe he's right maybe he's wrong but he joined your team! he didn't start his own!

ask yourself if you've got the balls to cut someone from the team.. doesn't sound hard but trust me it is.

all that being said.. if you have the right bunch of guys it can be a great experience. don't try and bring your friends into paintball to build the team. its more likely that they will end up not playing as much or getting out of the sport all together. its better to go to the field play with people get to know them and build a team from those contacts. that way you know that they want to play.

come up with your teams bylaws... a set of governing rules that you can point to when things get out of hand and make everyone read and understand them.. your bylaws should have everything spelled out EVERYTHING!!!!! uniform requirements, attendance, practice, dues, behavior, termination, joining requirements and procedure, how you deal with people who break rules, equipment requirements, sponsorships and so on.... it can never be to detailed and make sure and adjust as needed and if changed make sure your team re-reads and validates the changes.

constant communication. emails, phone calls, facebook, tweets... use them all to keep the team informed and active. upcoming events or things they should be aware of... uhm like team dues deadlines.

be as open as possible have a private forum you can use to post things like team fund totals what your using the money for, who has paid and who hasnt. what your thinking about and what your plans are for the team.

plan team meetings away from the field.. meet regularly and discuss but always have a focus for the meeting things can get out of hand quickly and nothing gets accomplished. so put together some sort of agenda cover it and enjoy the rest of the meeting.. we do this at like parks and have all the families come out. we do our little meeting thing then enjoy the rest of the day with the families.. kind of brings us closer together.

don't try and do everything yourself. you will burn out. try and assign officers on your team to specific tasks. this empowers people on your team and makes them feel like they are part of making the team grow. for example have a treasurer or a trainer. or what ever you feel you want to empower someone else to do.

well thats a start... there is soooooo much more..
