You guys know Ken from KPCustoms? Or I think he goes by KPCS now?

That picture of the silver micro with the red fade was taken on the wall of his wife's craft shop. He was my machinist. It was a 100 mile trip to his house, and I made it every weekend. I'm pretty sure my car knew the way well enough that I could have slept for most of the journey and not missed a turn.

What would you like to know about it?

More pics perhaps
How many were made (I have heard 2)
Who has them now
Why you chose the bushy misc. stuff

I never knew Ken milled those, and the bum never mentioned it to me! I love Ken's work, and he's a straight up kind of guy.

I think I actually ended up trading the gun to Ken for some work on a different project. He might be able to tell you the whereabouts of it now.

I don't have ANY of the old pics anymore. Kinda wish I did actually.

I chose the bushy because I had bought a bm2k and noticed the chip was socketed. So after reverse engineering the circuit board, we made a new firing system, called the Chaos Chip. We went through a vew 'generations of it', and even found out the software was stolen and blatantly marketed under a new name: "The Mayhem Chip". They even went so far as to retype my instruction sheets word for word, only adding their name at the top. Wish I could recall their name... they were out of Indiana. I want to say it was the same guy who designed the reactive trigger mod for the Tippman 98.

Anyway, after the Chaos chip took off, we designed the eye right about the same time Curt of KM2 and Bob Long were doing theirs. We did a single sided Omron eye using reflective technology.

Since things were going decently and interest was gaining in the marker, naturally mods and special editions were being made. I had already done a pretty slick rainmaker barebones marker that used cocker barrels and an angel circtuit board (I called it the Raingel), and I wanted to carry over the ultralight design to the BM2K.

12 hours after firing up the mill, we had what you saw in the pictures.

It does seem like we only did 2, and the silver one is the prototype. The sport was still young, and while people were willing to pay for mods back then (keep in mind, this was before the $150 chinese markers flooded the market, before Autococker went mainstream retail, etc). I ended up getting hired to design an electro for another paintball company, so I kinda dropped the bm2k stuff.

Once again, my design was stolen by this new company, and they never paid me. They went out of business a few years later, and I wasn't sorry to hear of it.

I got pretty soured on everything being "borrowed" from my designs, so I sold the Chaos rights, and walked away from the sport.

That's a shame (about your bad experience). It was definitely a rocking gun.

Yeah, I always liked Ken. I saw him a couple years ago. I designed a lowering link for a Triumph motorcycle and had him mill out a prototype for me. Every now and again I'll catch him online, but I have access to a pretty high end machine shop now, so I don't get over that way anymore.

I'm kinda wishing I had another bm2k style marker or two in hand. I bet with what I've learned since then, and the machines/equipment I now have at my disposal...

Anyone want to sell me one or two CHEAP? Wink

As tempting as that is, my time is pretty limited and I'd hate for you to be waiting on me to send you something. It could very easily be summer before I could spend much time on it.

I went back to school for Computer Aided Drafting & Design, and I'm taking over 18 credits this semester plus two CNC classes so I can graduate in May.

At least now I can draw up the mods in 2d or 3d, and even simulate their operation before even cutting anything. I used to just give it a good look over and decide where to cut next, then clamp them down Smile
