So I took the backroads home yesterday to avoid traffic. On the north side of my town, there was a bunch of trailers and stuff in a field that was previously empty. It has been a while since I took that road though. This was also being parked near the road.

I poked around on wikipedia a bit, but I cannot identify it. My best guess is a Sherman, but I really have no idea.

Apparently, there is an HBO movie or series being filmed in my area. I am going to try to figure out more about it later.

Wow, that's pretty cool.
That looks like a soviet model. T-56? T-42? Not sure, but I used to build models when I was a kid and I'm pretty sure that's a soviet bloc weapon. Would kind of make sense that it's a Russian thing because I think they sold to whoever had cash and they didn't really care about what you were going to do with it.

I have no idea what the deal is the the movie. The scene they were shooting had an old truck and horses.

Hmm...I think I might have found it,

Edit#2: A little bit more digging yields a better match with the T-34-85.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-34

Looks like maybe a Stalin series? I dunno, but HBO does it right. Watched Band of Brothers and Generation Kill and those were awesome series. Saw The Pacific too and it was good, but not as good as Band of Brothers.

Ok, I think that it is a T-34.

Ah! You beat me! You got me sidetracked looking at super tanks.

Looks like something used in Band Of Brothers lol. Best series in the world.

its a T-34/85. 85 is the size of the gun, 85mm. it looks original, as you can tell from the space between the road wheels in the middle. markings are consistent with Soviet tank recognition.

and i don't need any wikipedia links. one of my hobbies before paintball, motorcycles, wrenching, and D&D was history, military history.

I wish they still had a FLYING stuka... Love the things but they all got shotout of the sky.

lets see, other things id like to see fly are:

F-105 thundercheif ( republic)
F-94 thunderceptor ( republic)
FW-200 condor ( Focke Wulf)
HE 189
HE 162
And a slew of other planes...
