i am starting to get tired of the roll pins for the Bushmaster & B2K4 frames. the other night i broke my pin punch. it wasn't new and i already wore down the tip a bit, but that plus my roll pin punch has bent on me(hardened steel my arse) really bad, i was thinking of drilling out all my frames and possibly doing a swap with what i have(if it turns out nicely) with anyone who would want that.

so, what would people like? i've already done an old mod, with a screw and nut. basically, drill through the hole, and countersink the screw head and nut. it works great(though its tight on the microswitch), but its a chore, since i forget which bits to use and the nut can fall off.

but what i'm thinking is to find the right screw(3/48 x 3/4" but have to check the sizes and what i can do), counter sink the head, but either thread the microswitch all the way through, or bore out one side and just thread one end.

so tell me what everyone would like?

i HATE those pins.

oh another option would be to use the way bonebrake does, where there's just a metal rod through the hole and your grips hold it in

^ I like that method a lot too.

Critical used to have pics, that had threaded caps for older dm triggers. I would love to repurpose those for a bushy.

But doug, I say go for it. Anything to get rid of those stupid pins haha

Roll pins are stupid.

I like the idea of a threaded pin.

Have you thought about a threaded pin where the leading section is a smooth pin at about .086" (major diameter of 2-56 screw) and the rear is threaded 4-40 with an allen head? Then you would just tap the left side of the frame for 4-40 and wammo, no need for counter sinking for nuts, etc.

Crash: i'll take any pics i can get. i'm still not sold on any one idea, as i'm still try to think this through.

Colin: i have a pin/screw like that, out of a DM parts kit that i don't even know where it came. that would make things easier, and i actually want to do that for the trigger. i haven't really searched McMaster-Carr for them, but i'd have to compare them to what will fit in the microswitch. 2-56 seems small, and i know 4-40 is tight on the microswitch and requires boring on the frame. so i'll check the 2-56 screws i have and try to find it or similar through McMaster.

I've use 2-56x3/4 for switch screw for years. it's a snug fit, but that's better than a sloppy fit any day, right?

Started with the counter bore & nuts, then went the other way & just chased the existing holes w/ a tap (really small, don't remember size possibly 2-56 or 2-48, but maybe 3- (same pitches above). Then you use a ss allen cap screw to hold it in.
