Just thought I'd share something that made me laugh the other day.

I'm doing this internship with Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board as part of some schooling I'm doing to get a GIS certificate (to hopefully one day get me a real job). And I'm going through and digitizing restoration work that's been done all around the state of Oregon - people upgrading their irrigation systems, riparian projects, fish passage installations and dam and barrier removal. All sorts of interesting projects for a hydrologist, which admittedly I'm not. So I get to one project that the Nature Conservancy is helping out with. They bought an old amusement park and are now converting it back to a more natural setting. The .pdf file detailing work and problems can be found here, but I don't recommend reading it unless you want to fall asleep.

Anyway, I get to one page and they mention the problems with the site and they say The site attracts vandalism, dumping, illegal activities, squatting, and is a popular battlefield for paint ball wars.
Then they even PROVIDE A PICTURE! Too bad the vandals and the squatters cleared out before the scientists with the camera got there.

If those scientitians maybe made a little inquiry into what paintballs do, biodegrade, they might not be putting them into their report!

So there, just thought I'd mention that paintballs, no matter how smart you are, get a bad rap.

depending on how old the article is, they may or may not be right. the old oil fill did not degrade and made a big mess

The park did shut down in '75, so there is a possibility that there could be some of the old, oil filled paintballs still around.

I mean, it's not like they are calling up arms against paintballers. They are making a point that until the place is properly cleaned up there will be 'illegal activities' that happen there. And unfortunately outlaw paintball games are probably illegal in some areas.

But I just thought it was stupid, instead of mentioning that they have an underground septic tank for RV pump outs that has probably not been inspected for decades and could have been leaking sewage into the creek, they decided to show that there are some errant paintballs on the ground.

On the positive side, I now know where to go if I want to do some outlaw ball! Only an hour away!

Someone looking to own/operate a field could probably pick that up at a good price.

Paintballs today are nothing like they were "back in the day". I would love to have a paintball field. My local field recently closed due to the fact that the owner rented the land. If you own 5 of more acres I would say open up if there isn't a big field with in 40 mins of you. I'm talking to one of my dad's friends about doing it on the side.
It just seems that the world today hates anything shot from a "gun", even though the sport of paintball teaches responsibility and safety when played right.
