Nobody how old is your Porter Cable? Because they have been owned since 2008 by B&D and the quality of the name has been reduced to below Dewalt and above B&D. Sad really because they were one of the premier tool companies for a really long time.

I had a Dewalt that lasted me 12 years of hard abuse. When it died I bought Bosch as the Dewalt quality has gone down. My father has a Mikita and he raves about it, I've used it quite a bit and honestly the only thin I can say bad about it is it isn't Bosch...

I've never had the chance to try the kobalt brand power tools but have used some rigid stuff and it got the job done. I really want to check out Festool because of the quick change chuck system, but there is only 1 dealer in my state.

crafstman still makes quality tools. The lifetime warrantee makes the price worth it. I know of people who find peat up craftsman hand tools from the 60s at garage sales, and trade them in for brand new ones.

You can't get that bolt off? Put a pipe on the end of your wrench and jump on it; it's ok because if you break it, you'll get a new one for free with 0 hassle.

I wouldn't buy a kobalt power tool, though. Something about house brands bother me when it comes to power tools.

yah for Kobalt their hand tools seem solid but I dont think I would buy a powertool of theirs, not with the other options out there.

We only have craftsman and snapon hand tools, my dad worked for a car manufacturer at a test facility for years and got the snapon stuff at cost(long as he took the rep golfing) so we have tons of those.

For craftsman keep an eye on those pallets at the front of the home depot stores, they usually have some decent mark downs on tools there. Got a 3pc adj wrench set for like 9$

kobalt has the same warranty and they give me much less of a hassle about a replacemnt...not to mention the quality of the new crapsman has gone down CONSIDERABLY since they sold out.... Any old craftsman stuff i keep....the new stuff is really garbage.....thats from a guy that uses them all day every day....theres a reason i made the switch to kobalt
