I have my setup as per my sig. Testing of both boarods on my B2K4.

Many thanks to Goldie for sending a replacement 2k6 Chaos after the unfortunate batch of bad hardware.

FYI, noid clicks as it would with the 2k4 Board.
12ms dwell nets 280fps.... same between 2k4 Board and 2k6.

However, when testing in PSP mode, I noticed a ? problem? with the eyes.

2k4 Eyes: Scope Mode B, AE Delay 4ms, drop shot after timer

2k6 Eyes: Bolt timer (15ms default), Scope ON, AE delay 3ms, drop shot after timer

With the 2k6 board in the eye setting, using either a Egg 2 or Halo B, I was having problems with skipped shots. Then the marker would behave as if there's no ball in the breech (light is solid). If I turn the marker off, then back on, it detects a ball in the breech and fires; it's not enough to turn the eyes off and back on again.

With the 2k4 board, it was flawless. No skip shots, no mis-reads. In games, never ever chopped a ball.

Since then, I've changed the 2k6 Board eye settings to Eye monitored, Scope ON, AE delay 4ms, Drop shot after timer.

From the descriptions in the manual, the eye monitored vs bolt timer shouldn't have such an effect on how the eyes work, with the skipped shots and mis-reads. I haven't had a chance to retest it yet.

Any thoughts?

Hm. Well, the proto board I tested ran great iwth eyes monitored.. and FYI, bolt monitor is only if you don't have eyes - and isn't as reliable. Odds are you may have had settings issues...

Hmm... I hope that's it.... end user issue.

Thanks for the reply and the FYI re: Bolt Timer. I didn't really understand what the manual was describing wrt that.

Also, along the lines of learning about the settings..... there are a bunch of settings as related to "closed bolt". I can't seem to find any references to those settings in the manual. I can't decipher the short-forms. And of course, I didn't attempt to make any adjustments from default settings.

Closed bolt was for the Pandora boards used in the Excalibur.. it doesn't apply to your bushmaster. Smile

Ah. I was confused. I thought I was pretty sure my bushmaster didn't have any closed bolt settings.... it's obviously not even a closed bolt marker.

Anyway... back to the issue at hand.

The eye setting to monitor and AE delay of 4ms seems to have corrected the skipped shot issue. However, the mis-read is still occuring.

I've changed the ball-detents..... although the ball wasn't moving around in the breech. Eyes are clean. 2k4 board works flawlessly. Shooting Reballs.

Again, this is what's happening with the mis-read.
Turn hopper on (either Egg 2 or Halo B).
Turn marker on, turn eyes on. Ramping mode.
Light flashing slow flash.
Shoot marker... ramps up. No skipping shots.
Stop shooting.
Light flashing slow flashes.
Pull trigger. No shot. Light goes solid (as if no ball in breech)
Take barrel off. Feel inside breech (very very carefully and I don't suggest doing this). Ball is present. Ball is secure... no moving around. Bolt just clears the feed tube.
Put barrel back on.
Light is still solid.
Turn eyes off then on.
Light flashes slowly.
Pull trigger. Light goes solid and no shot.
Turn marker off then on.
Pull trigger. Shoots (no double feeding).

Then the whole process starts again.

Again, when I put the 2k4 board back in, it shoots flawlessly.

I'm guessing eye-logic issues.

Update:-----------------------------------------------------------------

My buddy... aka buttjupp... also has a B2K4 PDS that I'm working on and he also has a 2k6 Chaos that I've installed for him. Same settings.
With his stock board.... no problems.

With the 2k6 Chaos, it's having the same mis-read problems. Same behaviour.

The only thing I haven't done is flash the board. Based on vlink, the board has the 3.1 firmware and is accepting my settings. Trigger programming of the shooting modes have not been a problem.

Update:---------------------------------------------------------------------

Flashed one of the 2k6 boards with the

chaos3.1.efw file that came on the CD.

Confirmed flash success by downloading settings.

Now, when I gas up, the bolt cocks back. But when I turn on the marker, the noid activates as well, fires the marker and keeps the bolt forward. Cycling the trigger makes the bolt move back from the forward position slightly.

Replacing the 2k6 Board with the stock board makes it all better.

I've flashed the chaos board twice to make sure the flash worked. Same result.

I've used this same file to flash the previous 2k6 board (the one that was returned) and it did not cause this most recent quirk.

I'm certain its not the battery or the wiring.

Goldie.. or Darryl, I need the most recent OEM firmware file to flash the board to make it so that it doesn't activate the noid upon turning it on.

^^ That sounds to me like your trigger may not be adjusted properly. It may be contacting the switch constantly.

Hmmm.... but it doesn't explain why the Stock board and the 2k4 Board works, but the 2k6 board causes the above problems.

I have not adjusted the trigger inbetween testing the boards. I've adjusted the trigger on both b2k4s and my bko so that the pull length is approx 4mm. The microswitch is activated towards approx the last millimeter of travel.

Thanks Darryl..... and Goldie.

I've installed the aftermarket solenoid available from ASP on buttjupp's bushy. That particular noid has a red light on it that turns on when the noid is activated. Since flashing his board with that file, as soon as I turn the marker on, the light on the noid lites up and stays lit up. The marker behaves as if the noid is constantly "on" as in moves air to the back of the ram to push the ram/bolt forward. When I turn off the board, the bolt cocks back. Again, as soon as I swap out the 2k6 board with either the 2k4 or stock board, then all is well again. And again, his board appeared to be working (except for the mis-read) until I flashed it. I don't want to flash my board.

I hope all this detail helps with the troubleshooting.

Forgive me if this was already posted in an earlier post, but when did you get the board? Is it fairly new, or have you had it for awhile?

Can you take a picture of the board? Depending on how recently you got it, and without going into the details, it maybe the wrong firmware for that board on the CD.
