C'mon, can anyone provide a definitive table?

I might have to take te boad and put it on a scope at school and test it myself.

What do you mean, a definitive table? You GOT one.. Not much else you can ask for!

Ok, here's the reply I just got on the VaporWorks support, someone please tell me I'm not out of line here because DH does:

My original question to Vaporworks wrote:

Can I get a corrected list of trigger clicks versus dwell for the 2k6 chaos. The existing manual is wrong and I can't use v-link since my PC has no parallel port. This board has had this issue ever since it's been out and you guys don't seem to be doing anything to fix it. It's not like it's such a big deal to correct a dwell table. Sorry if I seem a bit impatient but my younger brother has a tourney coming up and I need to tune my gun for him to use it.

DH wrote:
Go read the post on ICDO.

You should apologize; you're being VERY impatient, especially since you've already got the information you're after.

I"m going to ask Goldie again about a new firmware to allow more than 16 pulls (which would equate to 10ms, I believe).

Alternately.. find a machine that has a parallel port and use your vlink. It's not like they're obsolete or anything.. most mainboard manufacturers still produce them, as do most notebook computer manufacturers.

I guess I'm being unreasonable for wanting to adjust my dwell above 10 using the trigger. The board is advertised as trigger programmable, yes I realize getting a PC with a parallel port is not that hard, however I want to tune the gun at the field, trying several dwells.

Am I being unreasonable in assuming that I can use the product as it's designed to be used?

I've been patient with this, I had no problem with waiting for my replacement board after the first one was faulty. I understand that problems like that come up and Vapor dealt with it well. But this is a board that's been out for a year and it's still a problem.

I'm not bashing Vaporworks and I was really hesitant to put this up but I feel like it's needed.

That DH is a real prick.

Course, he *IS* right. I posted the information in here earlier - someone else reposted it - as far as changing the dwell.

You *can* use the product as it was designed.. you're just choosing not to.

Go to the first page in this thread, someone reposted what I wrote to them on PBN. It explains the dwell clicks.

The only real issue is that (I could be wrong here) you can't do more than 16 trigger pulls, which would max you out at I believe 10ms of dwell.

Course, if you have a vlink, just use that. Why doesn't your machine have a parallel port? I have a notebook I bought late last year, and it's got one.. both desktops I have each have one..

D.

(or should I say.. DH?)

Darryl I understand what you are saying, I'm not trying to attack you. ( and I realize you are DH, I'm not dense) You're right, the dwell settings have been posted and they are correct I'm sure. I'm saying that I cannot set my dwell above 10ms, and for an HE bolt 2005 Freestyle it simply isn't high enough.

Again, the issue is that I cannot go above 10 ms dwell.

My PC is a Dell Dimension 5150 and I don't see why it matters if I have a parallel port or not. The board is trigger programmable, period.

Darrel, you've only convinced me that I shouldn't spend more money on Vaporworks products. I've recommended Vapor valves and Chaos boards to Bushy and Promaster owners at my fields previously but this turn of events is definitely causing a shift of opinion. Rather than simply admit that the board does not function as advertised, you'd rather call me unreasonable for not wanting to lug a laptop PC to the field to do something as simple as a dwell adjustment.

I will never recommend or purchase a Vaporworks product again.

Okay.. so you *CAN* use the board, but the limitation is causing you grief..

yes, the trigger programming *SHOULD* work for higher than 10ms. As I said, I'm waiting to get information back from Goldie on a firmware update to correct that. I don't know how much more of an admission (that the board needs corrected firmware) that you could ask for!

Not recommending or buying vapor products is certainly your prerogative.. Although I would like to note that at no point did you ever state your issue was that the HE bolt required more than 10ms - all you ever did was say that you couldn't get the dwell higher than 10ms, even after everyone made it abundantly clear to you that not only was it possible, it was easy.

To solve your parallel port problems:
gogocost.secureserverd...ductid=275

Why the heck would you want to do your marker prep at the field? I *NEVER* do that - unless I'm helping someone else out, or I'm doing prototype parts testing.. and even most of that I do at my place.

*shrug* Do what you're gonna do, believe what you're gonna believe....

D.

The way to optimize dwell that I've found is to go to the field and sweep your dwell values across a range, finding the best balance of efficiency and consistency.

Yes, this is exactly what I meant. The board has been out for a year and this aspect is not working.

Look, I really didn't want this thing to escalate but it kind of irked me that it took until now for you to simply admit that the trigger programming doesn't work as advertised and you instead chose to call me unreasonable.

I appreciate you looking for a parallel port adaptor, but it's not the issue.

Me on March 27th in this thread wrote:

I thought you could only get up to 16 blinks? If thats the case, I can't see how you could high enough dwells for an HE bolt Freestyle. 15ms dwell would need: 2ms+13ms extra, so 26 blinks.

It hasn't been until within a month or so that anyone has brought this to my attention. And well.... honestly I've been slacking! Wink

In the past six months, I've moved halfway across the state, started a new "real" job, had to undergo nerve block shots that involved a series of 2" long needles into my groin, and am getting married next weekend.

Real life has gotten in the way of things and I"m starting to fall into the trap of not having enough paintball biz to support me full time, but too much to do only part time.

We're working on it, but all I can say at this point is its in progress. I've given up on giving deadlines because then people get pissed when I miss them! Smile

Goldie,
Sounds like your plate is full for sure. And congrats on the wedding. I understand that you guys are a small company and everything and I'm sure you'll get to it. I was just really put-off by DHs comment in the helpdesk that I should apologize for being impatient.
