i can't give you a proper figure.
1) the field i play at is inexpensive, as the owner doesn't charge field fee, all day air is only $5 and i get my paint at near cost. so with that, i can play if work, money and weather allows, nearly every weekend, sometimes twice a week.
2) i buy alot, and have been playing since 1999. so i have a lot. at one point i had 14+(excluding projects) different guns. i have 10 right now, but are looking to sell off 2 and a project gun. i have currently 4 HPA tanks(a HP 68/4500, a LP 69/4500, a 68/4500 Armaggedon, and a long 88/4500 Conquest), 2 halos, 2 revys, plus 2 9 volt Shredders(which are for sale ). plus, i just bought 2 more Flex 7s(just because they where a good deal), to go along with my Flex7 Ize and Vforce Morph. hell, i have a Tippmann SL68 that i got for $50, had a $25 barrel cut for it, put a 47/3k tank and a revy on it, so i could say that the parts cost more than the gun!
3) though i make a good wage, i also don't have much in responsibility(no GF so splurge on ), so i can turn that money into alot of paintball equipment.
4) i buy a lot of used parts and guns. i'll wait for a deal to come through, so i don't pay what its worth. i also buy over what i need, cause i am a pack rat/collector. so, if i spend $200 in a month, i can easily have $400 worth of stuff, and that's not including what i spend to play.
5) tinkering with stuff, i can't imagine putting a number on. just reading the different internet sites and bouncing around ideas in my head counts for tinkering. in my Bushy project, i am thinking of a way to put DM eyes, but its not a physical think. i am just thinking of how to run the wires and such. i do that every day, so i can't really nail down a figure on it.
6) i also enjoy fixing other peoples guns. at my field, when there are the big games, i am elected to help with the field and also work on problem guns, which i do love. nothing is better than someone handing you a non-working gun and breaking out the magic dust, chanting a few words and fixing it.
but for turds and giggles(can't use the proper word here or D would get upset and pull a PBN ban on my arse!), i came up with $746.84 a month, for the year which is very conservative. i do have to take into consideration that i do sell alot of stuff, so my turn around is going to be different.
and like Spitlebug i like my cancer sticks too.

Try having a kid - and no, I'm not joking!
As for my paintball habit.. Hm. Adrian doesn't have a number high enough, there. I've spent far, FAR more on paintball than most people do.. Yeah, even you guys who don't have girlfriends! Course, I also make a comfortable living with my day job. That helps.
Now, if only I got to play regularly.. then I'd be laughin'! I haven't played since September of last year. Dry-firing, or doing proto testing with reballs doesn't count, in my books.
Blah.
D.

I spend way more on my truck and tools than on paintball. Third would be my smoking habits. Paintball probably takes 4th, though my computer comes close. But paint is $64.99 a case at my field (for crappy "field blaze") which is not local to me because by the time I drive the 15 miles round trip I've used 2 gallons of gas (100% not joking, and I have to fill up with premium). Then entry and all day air are another $10. To top it all off the only people I can get to go with me are my 14 year old and 11 year old brothers most of the time, and I end up paying for them. If I have the extra money though, a few hours fun is well worth it.

if i type this out it will be easier to figure out the cost. if you are actually reading this post be patient.
$200 a month on gear alone. disgusting i know. i go a couple of months without buying anything. but then i get the urge to build a new gun. this year alone i built a bushy, finished my original project bushy. built two timmys from scratch. built a Diablo wrath. finished off my nerve project. plus the various masks or jerseys, etc... wow.. this is getting disgusting
not going to do the calculation for time spent at the field since it doesn't affect my work schedule in anyway. 2 cases of paint. plus entry. once a month minimum.
$85
4 hours a week of tinkering with my gear.
$125 roughly
hour a day on various paintball forums and looking up gear and such.
$120
grand total of $530 a month.
i know this is an old poll. but i never really figured it out before. i need a different hobby. i think i am about to be sick

Not the most expensive for me
I prob have $1000 in gear and spend $100 every time i play, which is maybe once a month.
I have other more expensive hobbies, like my 500 gallon reef aquarium and my cars. I'm looking into a $4500 supercharger kit right now.

I am not addicted.
I am not addicted.
I am not addicted.
Ooh, look, a new ASA with a lever on eBay!
I voted, but am also at about $75/month in hard costs and tinkering = 4*15=$60 + online = 20*7=$140 So about $275/month. Good thing that I don't win everything I bid on at eBay...that number could be WAY more than $1,200. D'Oh!

I hardly even play anymore and I STILL spend money on it. It's very sad. But when i do play, iv'e got enough gear to cover 3 people +me:)
I need to go play more, but there's no fields open when i'm available to play. If a field would be open past midnight through the morning hours, i'd probally go twice a month or something.
