I bought a JAM bolt a while ago for my bushy but it had issues with diameter, detent slot depth and overall lenght...

I am interested in the black one though. You ship to Canada?

Black one currently has an offer on it, but I'll keep it up until cash is in hand.

Issues with detent slots, length and diameter were known.

Detent slots were made the size they were so as not to cut too much out of the bolt shell. There were 2 types of ball detents for B2Ks, and these were primarily sized for the o-ring detents, which themselves performed rather poorly.

Length was based on the stock bolt, but they can be turned down by about 1/4-3/8 of an inch in the back, but not much more than that or else the internals become exposed. This is what I did for the bolts on my 2 personal Bushmasters.

Bolt diameters were consistent and were made to have a no-blowback fit. However, Bushmaster bodies had poor tolerances and a wide variation from running extrusion dies for too long before replacing them. Our tests with bolt o-rings didn't work so well, so we ruled those out prior to manufacturing.

JAM bolts essentially operate on the edge of several key parameters: open spring force, closed spring force, bolt diameter, bolt shell mass, inlet ramp surface area, inlet ramp angle and compressible distance. The Bushmaster bolt was the most difficult to design and pushed the limit on each of these parameters. Too much or too little in any of these areas, and the bolt doesn't work. We only had 3 different generations of Bushmaster to test with, so it was inevitable that sloppy tolerances inherent to this line would create problems. Some could be lived with, and others required a little sanding.

You may want to look at this thread. I have listed quite a few CAD files of Bushmaster parts:

www.icd-owners.com/htm...pic&t=7751

As far as Overall length goes, the bolt portruded past the back of the breach and didn't allow balls to drop. The difference in lenght was close to 3/8".

3/8" difference? Compared to what? I'm not sure which bolt you're comparing it to.

Here's a picture of a JAM bolt next to a Stock bolt. Same total length.

Here's a picture of a JAM bolt next to a Stock bolt with a 1/4" rod shoved through both pin holes. The difference in length from pinhole to face is .07". This was done primarily to reduce rollback. However, it looks like it would be possible to remove that .07 on a lathe and not affect performance of the bolt. Did you have the anti-rollback ram mod in place? If so, then I can see why you couldn't get a ball to drop.

This is after I trimmed it down some. No, alas I did not have any roll back mods installed on my ram.

Are there still no pics? I can see them, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.
