PostPosted: Sun Jan 04, 2004 7:18 pm    Post subject: Dye Invision lense replacement

Just got a new Dye Invision mask...wore it for the first time while playing yesterday. During the day, I took a hit to the nose area, so some paint got inbetween the lense and the goggles. To properly clean, I had to remove the goggles from the mask and then remove the lense from the goggles. I thought the removal process was hard...I can't get the lense back into the goggles! Anyone else have an Invision mask? If so, ever taken it apart for cleaning? Any recommendations for how to get it back together? I'm considering sending it back and getting a JT Proflex instead.

Well, after an hour I've managed to get the majority of the lense back in...I still have one more tab on the bottom and the nose piece tabs are still not in all the way.

I found a post over at pbnation.com where one guy recommended to do the reverse of what Dye has in their instructions. Dye's instructions say to start with the nose and work around to the top...I managed to start with the top of the lense and work around to the nose. And it's still not in all the way. They must have Superman working on their assembly line or something.

Just an FYI for anyone considering the purchase of an Invision...it's a great mask and way comfortable. But if you get gogged in the right spot it is a pain in the A S S to take the lense in and out.

V-force Shields are nice. They have quick disassembly thingies but its hard to reallign the lense sometimes. Rolling Eyes

ditto on the V-force...I have one and it's a 10 second procedure. My son has an Invision and it's THE most difficult lens replacement I've experienced. All I can say is keep working at it...I have no helpful hints other than be careful and grunt a lot. Very Happy

You could always just say *screw the lense and put saran wrap over the goggles

*Don't do that for real Sad

Well, I finally got the lense back in. And I ended up doing it in the reverse order of what Dye lists in the manual that came with the mask to get it back in. I think I'm going to stick it out with the Invision for a while and see how it goes...hopefully it will loosen a little over time and make it easier to remove and get back in. It's a really nice mask to wear on the field, plus I am thinking about getting the game timer add-on that snaps in on the right side.

Is that something you're supposed to be able to read in-game? Seems like it'd literally cause headaches to me

No, the timer snaps into the mask frame next to your right ear. Then you set the time limit of the game and then the timer voice alert will beep and announce the time as it counts down: 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 minute points and the 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1 second points. After the one second announcement, the timer will tell you"game over".
