Hey guys, I have a 2k2 BKO with a chaos chip (all switches in off position [22pin board]). I recently got my tax return so i had some cash to spend on some ups. I purchased a CP reg, Zeni ASA, Palmer Microrock, and an Ebay valve. I put all of these things on with great care and went to my local field. I gassed it up (no leaks woohoo!), went to the chrono area, and my first shot was 96fps. i then proceeded to adjust my regs. I went from 150psi on my hpr to 350. With each HPR adjustment, i adjusted the LPR accordingly. My highest velocity was 209. that was embarassing! I had to use my backup gun, an OLD BE Raptor.

Anyone have any ideas?

heres my baby

First, I'd say run your HPR around ~200 +- 10 as a starting point. Turn the LPR out all the way. Then, turn the LPR in til the gun cocks. After that, give it another full turn or so. I'd fire a shot at this point and see what results you get. From there, I would increase the dwell, since you have chaos. That should bump your velocity up. From there, just tune the HPR up a bit if you need more FPS, then the dwell if that not working, then the HPR again to fine to, and so on.

I feel like the dwell is the key in your situation.

Do you have the white or blue chip? you need to look at the DIP switch settings for your chip. with all switches off for the blue chip, you are semi-auto, 8ms dwell, 9bps. With the white chip, which is semi only, you are 6ms dwell, 9bps. Both of those dwell times are on the low side and would explain your velocity issues.

hey guys, thanks for the replies. I have the blue chip. and yep, its set at 8ms. Funny thing is, prior to the upgrades (cp reg, microrock/zeni, and Ebay valve), I had no problem attaining the necessary velocity at this setting.

I'll try flipping the 3rd dip to the on position to bump it to 10ms and see what happens.

It's hard to diagnose what the problem is. With installing all those upgrades right away there isn't any back history that we can comb over. You need to tell us a little more information about what your marker is doing. By going over each upgrade we can diagnose this problem a little better.

So here goes with the 20 questions:

1.) Does the bolt cycle back and forth sluggish or very quickly?
2.) Have you checked the valve to see if it has rotated at all?
3.) Is your hammer modified at all?

These questions are the ones that immediately come to mind. If none of these questions render the results I am looking for we will have to do this the long way.

I guess it's just like tuning a car. rule of thumb is that you dont install a whole bunch of stuff at the same time, because if something goes wrong, you wont know what it is.

the answers to your questions:
1) the bolt cycles just as fast as before the mods, so pretty quickly
2)I had JUST installed the valve, and verified the position by shining a light into the valve chamber and looking into the breech for the pattern of light
3) no modifications as of yet to the hammer.

Alright, so what this tells me is that the problem really isn't with the LPR or the ram.

Do you have a chrono to tune with?

IMHO the best way to tune is to set your HPR to 225. Then start turning up your LPR until your bolt cocks. At this point start firing paint over the chrono and upping the LPR in VERY small increments and shooting over the chrono again. Keeping turning up the LPR until your velocity no longer rises. Then try tuning your HPR to achieve the desired FPS.

You could always also try tearing it back down to where you had no problems. Then adding your new parts one by one to see how your marker takes each one.

naw, chrono is like 30 miles away lol. I can at least compare it to my girlfriend's marker to at least get it eyeball close. right now, its not even close.

I took it apart again, cleaned my HPR, zeroed the regs, did some light polishing of my valve pin, tightened my noid against my ram (prolly wasnt as tight as it should have been) and upped my dwell, and i will go test it this weekend. I'll post an update at that time. thanks guys

I guess if this doesn't work for you, you can always do it the logical way and start from the ground up by testing parts from the tank up.
