This is really for spitle or any one who might know. I am going to get my NDFS re annoed in blue. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to have it blasted before I send it off. I work part time for a compay known as Clemco, Zero, or International service solutions and we make blast machines. I say we but I should say the shop does.(I work in IT.) I have access to a machine I want to try a project on with in reason that is. I asked the lab guys what it would take and they rambled off a lot of different medium that I really didn't know what they were talking about. In the past if anyone has blasted what is the best to blast with? Here are some of my options, beads of glass, corn. plastic beads. rice, and a few others that I can't remember. What would be the best to blast off the anno w/out hurting the milling? Any ideas would help.
Thank you

I glass bead blasted my CP rail with good results. Some say it destroys the metal, but others say its ok. Stay away from any kind of sand for sure. Most will say you should strip the ano with a stripper before blasting it. That will make sure all the old ano is gone. Ano isn't just like a paint. It is a chemical process that actually "grows" on\in the metal a little bit. Think of it like a micro sized honeycomb all over your marker.

if you are going to have it dust blue you may be able to say some cash by beadblasting it yourself if you want it gloss, then don't do it

The machines are not sand blasting they are other less abrasive meidum. I want a dust not a gloss so that would work.

Bead blasting is iffy at best. Sand blasting will completely wreck your marker so that's a no-no.

Well I'm gonna have to get with the lab tech and show him exactly what I want done. He said once we get an idea he can show me what he would suggest for it. The plus on it though is if I decide to blast it I am the one who gets to do it. With a little help of course. Thanks Guys.

I just dont know if bead blasting alone will remove the ano.

You might wanna head over to PBN in the Voided Warranty forum. There is an anodizing sub forum in there that you will get a much better idea from. At least 3 or 4 of the almost paintball exclusive anodizers prowl around in there.
