Anyone have one of those marker projects that just seems to have taken way to long to finish due to either funds or parts/service that takes way too long? I'm down to one project that I cannot finish due to parts issues beyond my control. It's gotten so bad that I now am shooting a non-ICD gun. I'm to the point of selling all the remaining parts I have saved for this project and calling it quits as far as ICD goes. The Quest I'm shooting has been a wonderful gun that needs so little care that it has become my favorite gun. No balancing regs BS needed. No odd little leaks or unexplained FSDO. (Of course, I've never had a problem on a game day with any gun, ICD or not, that I've owned, as I keep my stuff in working order, but I've had to help many other people out with their ICD stuff.) Really, all this is just to vent out my frustration with marker projects that stretch out so ,ong that you lose interest and move on. Oh well, enough ranting for today.

Steve

I feel the same way sometimes. My local shop is an ICD fan boy also, BUT he is anti upgrades for the most parts and I do have to agree with him. Most guns start having little finicky problems with them once you start upgrading to the max. Does it really make a huge difference to get and extra 200 shots off of your tank? My new motto is if It ain't broke don't fix it.

Hey Northrup the only place I can disagree is when consistancy is at question. Sure most will never get 1+/- But at the expense of a few extra twenties I have been getting 5 +/- instead of about 12. I think that it is worth it. I don't know if that would be considered broken but the stock lpr worked it just would shoot all over the place. I didn't know that the lpr had that much influence on consistancy but once I put my jds on there it ran pretty darn good. That is after I put the new air tube from Normin in. Thanks Normin

I have had great luck with my stock LPRs, just polish em up and add some porting and they are great.

I don't have the time for that anymore. Besides that last thing I ported ended up in the trash. Not so good with tools. So by the time you add in shipping and service charges for the work being done I could buy an after market.

Throughout highschool I was always building guns with my paychecks. It all started when I bought my first electro-pneumatic marker: a teardrop Bushmaster. After that I was hooked... Mainly on modifying ICD and Autococker markers.
There was only one field within an hours drive of my house, which was hardly ever open at the time in my area. So this meant I'd get to play only 1-2 times a month. For that specific reason I tried to quit paintball many times, frustrated, often selling a marker I had put a months pay (or more) into. Looking back, I focused way too much on my equipment rather than my quality of play.
I think this is a very common problem for paintball players. If I could go back, I would have kept my first Bushy that was pretty much setup the way most Bushys are today. Take the money I burned, and use it to play paintball every weekend in Indiana (paintball barn) or Chicago (badlands & more). School of hard knocks I guess... lesson learned.
I have easily spent over 6 grand on equipment alone, that ended up being ebay'ed off =(. Usually I would have most my money invested in my equipment, so when I had to pay for a car repair or somthing unexpected, 7 days on ebay and all my stuff was gone and I was $600 richer. I sold a PERFECT T2 eclipse bushy that I picked up from Greg last summer, thinking I was done with the sport. Talk about regret... It's in a good home though, TSelanne has it =).
Even being in college, I can't get over my paintball addiction, so why fight it. Thus, I'm back at it; I recently purchased DH's Thunderstruck # CL319, and it will be kept, not sold off for gas money or anything else. Projects have their hard spots, and it is easy to give up. But it's a loss of your investment of time and money, and usually ends in regret =(. So keep your faith, complete your project, and be proud. Alright, I'm done talking now.

-Joe

^^ Funny, I have that CL319 now too....

I know, old thread, but I checked here to look for another topic and never read this thread. Steve, I lost interest in the venom project for a while after the engagement/wedding stuff started rolling last year.... now I can't wait to get this wedding crap over with and start working on it again.

LOL. I only have one VW project left. If the body and eye covers ever get to me it'll go out for anno, then probably go up for sale.
