the ABFS is currently in transit to his house Smile I REALLY want to see that working properly; it's just stupid lightweight and amazing.

PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2012 9:32 am    Post subject: Re: 1st time in many years …

Well yesterday turned out to be less than perfect, dammmm. Spent 2 hours working on Lasoya PM after 1st trip to chrono revealed what I suspected, low fps. I had worked on this before leaving the house for a couple of hours but did not have a chrono to vette it. (Chrono has been added to list of must have stuff, because my dust collection is in need of more space.)

I have a rammer /crammer (not sure which or what it is really called) on the Lasoya PM I just purchased and after taking it to the field yesterday I am less than thrilled.

The design is like that of the 05' Cyborg (different mounting but same theory & general layout) but not as refined. Also the weight (ram mass) is an issue (as in the ram shaft does not have enough mass), I couldn't get the marker above 260 fps no matter what voodoo I slung at it (even setting the dwell out to stupid settings, cutting the valve spring and barrel bore changes). The mass issue is nothing new, as it cropped up back in the old days, when we were lightening up Bushy hammers. So I got to shoot at 225 - 255ish all day. (Couldn't get past that w/o venting via LPR, HPR or valves cup seal).

So today I will pull out the ram assembly from my semi-stock PM and pull weights & dims to compare w/ the Lasoya ram/cram/whatever it is referred now. If dimensions & tolerances allow, I will add in the orings that should have been part of this design. So that one; there is no metal on metal during the return stroke and two; add in a floating/ support oring. Then I will core/ drill the ram shaft out and add in powdered lead (like a pool cue) to bring up the mass of the ram shaft and make it heavy enough to allow further/ future adjustments to be made by setting the dwell once & adjusting the HPR the proper amount. (Instead of fiddling with everything on the marker to get close.) Setting it up any other way leads to inconsistent performance, operation, usage and lots of foul language at the field.

Cool read thx for sharing - glad to hear you're back out on the field again. That's cool to hear your son enjoyed it! I suppose you never know if they'll like it or not. On one hand they won't like it regardless, just because Dad is bringing them. On the other, they'll have a great time because Dad is there.... depends on the child I guess. Question

That sucks about the markers not working as expected, but I guess that's just part of the sport. Your son is fortunate to have an expert tech 'on call' to get all the issues solved. Might want to bring a bushy along next time and spend more time on the field. Razz

Can't both Bushies are in the garage sitting next to the mill, LOL... My 07' Borg will be back from ano' in a couple of days, so I should have time to put it together for next weekend. The AB FS I bought from Martix should b here soon too, so I just have to get them all together. No matter though I should have the Lasoya sorted out by Friday at the latest.

you're starting to come across the reasons i got rid of all my ICD markers. I still have a bushy out there someplace in texas, but I'm not sure I'll even end up being able to play with that again.

I love tinkering, but NOT when i'm at the field.

Once the Borg is back from ano it will be steady state/ not modded. It was fully loaded when I bought it, it just look like the owner kept it in the bed of a truck in between games. I couldn't in good conscience not have re-ano'd, it looked terrible. I literally poured sand out of the grip frame Crying or Very sad . The stock PM is my son's and once the new regs & feedneck are on there will be no more change there. Same goes for the Lasoya PM, 2 new regs and finish the rammer mod and then it will stay that way. I have only had the Lasoya for 5 days total, including today. The most I would do to the Lasoya after that is to have the ano refreshed.

Th Freestyles are another story. I just have to re-learn how to tech them, Once that is done I will probably hold onto the AB and sell the FS7. .

I have had similar days, FSP would work when I got there and then by the second game would be chopping or start to leak, I would then switch to the ion for a cpl games and then that would have a breach break which is a PITA to clean on an ion since you have to take the whole thing apart basically.

Then I have days like the last time I went out where all three markers worked flawlessly all day, the FSP just rips so smooth when set up right and people actually notice and compliment it on the field.

It is part of the game to deal with stuff like this and it isnt unique to ICD markers, I see Dye markers go down all the time at the field and even saw an ego go down but I think that was used error. Only the older timmies people use that seem to never go down.

Once the PM's are running they will be left as is. Once they are dialed in they are sewing machines as long as they are cleaned & lubed properly. Infact, even with all the problems with the 2 PM's, which are minor & I am being picky, I have yet to chop a paintball in 7 cases of paint. I did have a loader break (and would have prefered a chop b/c cleaning a reloader b is a p.i.t.a.) and a barrel break from a double feed due to degassing. So in all I really haven't too many probs for markers that I had for an extremely short amount of tech time into.
