Hilti makes nice stuff, but I rarely have a use for anything that big. Bosch does not make a bad rotohammer though. That is about as big as anything I ever use.
That is pretty brutal about the rock drill. I would be scared to go home after that one.
I have yet to do anything catastrophic to myself at work. (Knocks on wood, rubs lucky rabbit's foot) I hit myself in the head with hammer on two separate occasions while I worked at home depot.

Thesis Paper is DONE. After two trips to UCDavis Special Collections, two trips to San Francisco Public Library, way too many gallons of mountain dew and diet coke, god only knows how many hours, an entire tree of paper, about 50 cheese quesidillas, 20 or more dollars in photocopies, more than a week of lost work, gaining ten or more pounds, one metric ton of stress, three stops at Outfit Paintball on the way to UCDavis, more than 15 dollars of library late fees, a few nights of going to be way too late and waking up way too early and not enough dances between the sheets.
22 pages without citations, 3 pages of citation. I turned it in knowing that I should have proof read it again.
Now I get to finish my LAST assignment for waste of time American philosophy class and do my take home midterm for my PRC history class.
I gave up the booze for lent. Except for my future brother in law's wedding and related events.
and St. Patrick's day.
Two days until beer.
Two days until beer.

no love for Dewalt?
We use there tools for our grinders and demolition hammers at my dads floor removal and prep company, lemme tell ya, haulin that heavy arse hammer around all day gets tiring real fast, we had a bosch hammer, and that little thing couldnt touch the big Dewalts, I think the biggest hammer we had was a giant Fing Makita, the damn hammer itself was probably damn near 75 pounds, we used it for breaking up concrete, but even for that it was over kill

Love for DeWalt! All my cordless stuff is dewalt. Most of my boss's stuff is dewalt. He has two dewalt chop saws and my chop saw is dewalt. I even like the dewalt bits and such better.
That is why I like the bosch hammer. Sure a bigger one would work, but it would be over kill for general home remodeling. The bosch works great for knocking out tile and taking down brick stuff. It is light enough that I don't tire out quickly, but heavy enough to get the job done.
If I were shopping for power tools on an unlimited budget, most of it would be dewalt stuff. The exceptions that come to mind are jig saw (gotta be bosch), the corded sawzall, corded right angle drill, skill saw (all milwaukee) and the hand planner (bosch)

I have always wondered about tribals, but the tribal forums on pbn and mcb are pretty inactive.

I hate dewalt grinders. They die too easily. Maybe it's because my welding sucks, but I have killed 3 dewalts in a month. I now have a kawasaki 9" and a makita 4 1/2", and love them. Milwaukee and dewalt make up the rest of my tools, except my Skil worm drive circular saw.

You must be doing something wrong, that or you are unlucky with the grinders you get. Or maybe i'm lucky with the grinder i use.

when you weld, you should only take down so much. also using the right kind of abrasive wheel helps. grinders also make horrible chipping hammers, maybe that's the problem.
seriously, what are you welding, and how are you welding? stick, mig, tig? you might be laying in too much filler or using the wrong kind of filler. what kind of pattern are you doing, box, C, or straight bead? the pattern plus the filler, might be giving too much new material, which causes you to have to grind it off, causing the premature grinder death. but on a side note, Dewalt isn't always the best. they are cheap, cause they spend most of the money on advertising.
