I will be so glad when this election is over. I am becoming more and more obsessed with it as each day passes. Win or lose I just want to move on. If my side wins I'll gloat for a few days the go back to normalcy, if we lose I'm moving to an unpopulated expanse in Wyoming and living "off the grid".

I don't know how you can be an undecided voter at this point either. either side is fairly extreme.

Maybe somebody ollder than me can answer this question, but have elections always felt like we're deciding the entire path for the country when we vote?

Bush/Gore didn't have this same feeling. Mccain/Obama kinda felt like it, but this election especially feels heavy; the winner is going to push his views and it's going ot change the country as we know it.

I'm not obsessed with the election, but I am following closely. I will be a third party guy, just FYI. Like him or hate him, you have to give Obama credit. He came in and decided that he was going to change health care. He spent all his political capital to get it done, but he got it done. He paid the price for it in the mid terms, and may pay a heavier price in a few days. Romney fits my social mores a little better, but I just can't like the guy. I've tried, and every time I think I might, it falls apart. So, it's Green, Libretarian or Constitutional for me, and I will decide which when I see who has the most votes when I go to the polls. I know that sounds stupid, but my vote is not going to matter as to who gets elected. Arkansas is going Romney nomatter what i do. But, if third parties continue to garner and increasing amount of votes, then the chances of them gettting invited to debates in the next cycle increases, and the amount of funding available to them increases.

I don't see this election as a defining moment in the nation. The people will define that moment, and I don't see it happening for another decade or so.

Everytime someone says that this election will be a defining moment in history, I just kinda roll my eyes. Every candidate campaigns his/her ideas and says they have this plan or that plan which is so different from their opponents. 90% of the time, nothing that is promised gets delivered. Presidents don't have nearly the influence they used to. Like VDub said, Obama spent most of his influence on ONE major thing.

I hate politicians, I hate politics. I vote so I have an excuse to piss and moan about whoever wins. Regardless, politicians only ever care about what's going to get them re-elected, not what may or may not be good in the long term. All you ever hear in political ads is, "Look at what happened while I was in office!" (even though it was probably a result of the previous person) and, "This is what I plan to have happen while I'm in office" (regardless of the long-term $hit that results from short-sighted plans).

I just wish an economist would run for President, at least then all the $$ would be in order and we'd actually have a future...

very true about the 90% deal, unless they have a majority in congress and the number of votes needed in senate it is very hard for any president to get what he has promised and planned pushed through. It has happened to most presidents, it is also why Clinton got a lot done when he was in office, he had the majorities and votes he needed and basically got us out of national debt.....then bush happened.

My biggest problem with the Romney campaign is their lack of actual information. They are going to cut taxes but somehow not increase the national debt....but they wont actually say how they plan to make that happen. Ask them after the election....um no....I want to know before I vote.

While I am a democrat in almost all the major categories I give an earnest effort to listen to and consider the republican candidates views and plans each election and if they are good enough I am more than willing to vote for them.....it just hasnt happened yet.

You know what you call an economist who understands how money works and how to make it?

A businessman

It's like those who can't do, teach... lol Wink

Obviously this is a touchy and tender subject, wich is why I didn't state who I voted for, nor am I asking anyone.

Any of you up in Ohio I bet are more tired than anyone of politics!

Like Matrix said, this election does feel much more weighty to me, profoundly more. People who say otherwise are usually so disgusted with the system they opt out so to speak.

It's ok to be disgusted with the system, the candidates and/or the process. That's why your vote is so important. even if you live in a state that is definitely hard-core red or blue, it's the little races, judges, council seats, state legislature... all of those that give rise to future politicians. So work to install people who reflect your vision for the future on the local level so oneday they may help on the national level.

A somewhat young community organizer with zero legislative experience became president, so if he's done nothing else he proved experience has nothing to do with it.

More than two parties? I dunno, if the two parties did what they SHOULD do it wouldn't be necessary.

Republican or democrat is like asking boxers or briefs. Which ever is on sale is fine since this nation is more about popularity and non sense propaganda. Vote for what you believe in, search and refine your thoughts, or just be a mindless drone and vote for the person everyone else around you says. Then again promises from a presidential campaign are mostly ignored and forgotten.

I don't know that a third party is needed and or viable, but the popularity of a third party will serve to bring both wings back toward the middle, where they need to be.

I believe my local vote is weighty, but my presidential vote is one of speaking out.
