I am working on a marker for a guy on MCB. I have 100% isolated the problem to the solenoid. The manifold is tapped for 2-56 screws and the noid is snug against the manifold. I have also tried another working noid on the marker and found that the marker works.

When the LPR gets air, it bleeds out of the solenoid somewhere. Maybe against the manifold? I was sure that it was a manifold problem. Are there any usual suspects for this?

That bleed off problem sounds like a similar problem I had when I was servicing an 05 FS for a gentleman.

When I first got the marker it did nothing but leak. I thought it was the manifold but I eventually took apart the noid and I did pull the spool out of the noid and I noticed one of it's spool o-rings was halfway pushed out of it's groove. I got it back into place and the leaking stopped....until I went and tested it again and realized that the marker came to me with the 007 o-ringed stem installed on the bolt, rather than the usual 006 stem.
I noticed that I had to increase the LPR pressure significantly to keep the bolt cocked back with that 007 stem. I needed to run it close to the bleed off pressure of the noid (~130psi). And I believe due to the fact the noid was running close to it's max pressure, it caused the spool o-rings to become unseated.

So yeah, long story short, go ahead and pull out the spool in the noid and check it out.
And if you're servicing an 04 or 05 Freestyle with a 007 bolt stem, get it switched back to an 006 if at all possible (I got one from Ssechriest to help fix that marker I worked on)

That would be an easy fix, but I had my noid on it, with it cycling. Unless having the 007 pushed it off over time from it being over-pressurized.

On a side note, I wish I could use your noid servicing guide; it is way better than the one on IOG.

I'll keep you posted.

Did you get the correct screws?

yeah, except for the shortest one in front of the grip frame. that's the only ones i didn't get from Goldie.

also, i will be officially selling screw and oring kits, shortly.

and i will be getting you out that package that's taking forever. LMK if you need any spares to through in the box.

There was a slipped oring in the solenoid. It seems to be cycling fine now.

Andddd.....I snapped a wire. sheeitt.

It seems like the solenoid is on a bit cock-eyed. I have noticed this on other freestyle 4-5s, but it has never interfered with getting the grip frame back together. I tried to straighten it out, but it didn't do any good. Thoughts?

if the noid is working before the snapped wire, then it should be good(or at least till you put it to air). take a pic of the wire and i'll know if i can fix it for you. if not, i should have a noid for that gun. just let the owner know what's been going on with it. then tell him he needs a new harness, so everyone can get a his money!

I believe I saved the text of that service guide to a word doc. I could email to you and it should be able to be viewable in an html formatted email. Send me you email if you'd like me to try.

As for the cockeyed noid, well, if it ain't leaking, there's no reason to mess with it really. I don't think I've noticed it on any of the Freestyles I've worked on.
