Howdy boys...

Ok, I fubar'd my wire harness and luckily I got one from Darryl. I wanted to keep the QD on my solenoid because that it's kind of convenient. I was told to be aware that if I solder my solenoid wires on wrong I'd have to switch em around and resolder.
Well anyhow, I soldered. When I turn the marker on, the led lights, but there is no solenoid click when I fire the marker with the micro switch.

So... maybe someone can look at my problem with the pics. i've provided.... and maybe see if I at least have my harness (noid wires, etc.) soldered correctly. I believe it's something with the wires. Because before I damaged my previous harness everything was working tip top shape.... so I refuse to believe it's my noid.

- In this pic. the Green noid wire connects to the white wire.
- The black connects to the black wire

In this pic.:
- What is originally the green wire goes to the red wire
- Black goes to black

- Red wire is on top right, black wire is top left

How does it look? As you can see I haven't yet heat shrink tubed. Waiting on everyones input.

Thanks guys...

Well.. did you try reversing the wires yet?

I always soldered 'em on, tested it, and if it didn't work, unsolder and resolder the wires opposite.

If I recall correctly, the red/black and green/black pairs between a BKO harness and the 'noid were never matched up - i.e. black doesn't go to black.

Switch 'em and try it. If that works, great, heatshrink that badboy and game on.

If not, drop me a line - could be the harness is bad; if so I'll get you another one, no charge, ASAP - If switching those wires around doesn't do the trick, I'll also be able to help you figure out if it's indeed the harness and not the 'noid, too.

Later!

D.

Hmm... Ok, thanks a bunch Darryl. You're the BEST! I'll resolder them the other way then. I'm running out of wire... hahah... I'll let you know.

*Warms up the soldering iron*

Uhh.. running out of wire? You're not just cutting the wires each time, are you?

Just touch the soldering iron to the connection, the solder will heat up, and let loose.. that's why I said not to heat-shrink until AFTER you've confirmed the connections! Smile

yeah.. I trimmed it down a lil bit. Because they were twisted tightly, and were hard to unsolder. But I switched em around and it's still not working Sad The led lights however, but no noid clicking sound. I don't really know what to do next. Hmm... Question

Make sure the noid is good. You can bump (yes just barely BUMP) it against a 9v to see if it clicks. That will let you know if the wiring is good to the noid and can look elsewhere if that's the case.

Hmm... bumping the battery onto the noid eh? I tried that, and it's not responding. Just like tapping it on a rock. Question I dunno...

i think he means letting the wire ends from the solenoid lightly tough the battery real quick so that it is powered, and it should click if the noid is working... im guessing you dont want them to fully connect or leave them connected for too long because you could put too much voltage into the noid and blow it if it isn't already
