Has anyone at Vapor Works addressed the bad MOSFET issue with the Chaos 2007 boards?

I have a BUNCH of these and I cant off load them due to the fact of them being completely unable to shift a solenoid higher than 2.2v (which is pretty much all solenoids out there)

Anyone have a word/fix for this? (I know Goldie was fixing a few from WarpedAirsmithing.com (Andy)

Wow. It's actually the first I've hear of this problem. I know I tried to run a pulse RF chip off of a 2K7 back in 2007 and it didn't have enough voltage to run the chip. It always ran the noid though.......

It's only the 2k6 boards that suffered this problem to the best of my knowledge.

I have a bunch (20+) that have this problem,... all publicly documented in another forum.

I just want to know if Vapor Works is going to fix em or re-fund the money placed into them.

Long ago, I got my first 2k6, and goldie replaced it free of charge. With 20+ it may take some time for a shop in good shape to replace, with goldie, good luck these days. Why are you sitting on 20+?

I have more than that,.. some of them are not mine but the person they belong to was trying to get them re-funded or fixed.

Last I heard they were in the process of taking legal action... not sure if that was pushed all the way though.

I wanted to do some custom modifications with Angels and Automags at the time,... but these boards are, for a lack of better words,.. useless.

I figured someone may have found the solution to the problem

replacement of the chip is the only known solution. Goldie used a diferent chip on the 2k7 than the 2k6, IIRC. I'll try to find a thread or two covering it.

I have a guy that is working on some custom board stuff for me, chips, etc. It's in it's infancy right now. However I would like to get my hands on a board or two of yours with some details as to whats wrong and we can see what we can do about repairing them. PM me if interested.

From what I remember, the official story was that goldie got a batch of bad chips from his supplier and had to do some redesigning to use a different chip, hence the 2k7

No, the problem is with the MOSFETs that are on the bad boards. Basically the MOSFET acts like a miniature gate. When a small electronic signal (high from the chip) is sent to the gate lead of the MOSFET, it allows the full volage to pass through to the solenoid from the battery. If the MOSFET can only handle a small voltage/current then it will starve the load (solenoid).

There is a work around if you are somewhat electronically capable and can work a soldering iron.

What you would do is take an IFR510 MOSFET ans rig it up in a series circuit off the wiring harness or portions of the board.

How you implement this is none of my concern:
