I started playing with my nephews etc and they just wanted some one to take them to the field. I didn't know about the "surrender or die" thing.
I played with them a few times just renting my marker and Co2 and some older guys invited us to play on the D day course. I think they wanted to use the kids for target practice.
Anyway I had no real paintball experience, the only training similar was in the military. So I see all these kids heading right up the middle and getting blasted. So I did just did what was obvious to me I got on the edge of the field and crawled up the side and came around back of the guys in the bunker. I was about ten feet away when I blasted all of them. They were pretty mad! Then I got told about the surrender thing Smile Now that field tells everybody about that BEFORE they walk on the field!

All my nephews said they just heard screams like little girls coming from the bunker! I thought five very mad guys where going to jump me at 1st.

yeah they tell everybody about the "surrender rule" at our field, but few people abide by it. In airball/speedball you assume the risk of getting bunkered and blasted at close range. But in woods ball where the majority of rec people play that's where it seems a bit more important. i don't want to hammer on a new person up close and ruin thier experience. but it seems no matter how conciensous of close range shooting I am, if I ask for a surrender I get lit up. pisses me off....i quit asking for surrenders and just dont get that close to newbs anymore.

all these type of stories made me remember one i have.

When balling one day i was playing speedball for my first time. Well little did i know the people on the opposite team, there were 2 sem-pros. Well the people on our team were all newbs but i had the most paintball expierience. So they yell go! and ofcourse the other team splits and half go down one side of the field and half go down the other and they light us all up in 5 seconds(and they knew we were new to speedball, we were using tippys and they were using eteks i now know) So we took a break and then went up to those guys and said, "how about a re-match?" and they ofcourse said sure with a laugh. Little did they know, we were planning on doing what they did to us haha..so they yelled go and we did it to them except we didnt stop shooting for a good 6 or 7 seconds......needless to say we got revenge Very Happy

i hate the surrender rule. no dignity in it. i "got surrendered" last weekend when some jerk ran up on my "house." i have no excuse for it. i should have watched my right, but their was a guy with a sight on my side to my left. mr. surrender got lucky. i almost rolled him at point blank out of habit and anger.

i never abide by that rule. i should, but i dont. it is bad for paintball's image that i dont. but there is not the same adrenaline involved in running on a bunker/pallet/spool/house and telling them to surrender.

i guess i dont have alot of sympathy for people getting shot too close. i have scars to tell the story of bunker runs as "bunkerer" and the "bunkeree." i dont regret it. great stories to tell.

and speaking of new people, what the hell is with people who i am shooting who do not go out when i shoot them? i have an excellent angle, as in i have cover (ie. something snake like) and they are exposed on their side, i shoot them once or twice. they look at me confused, and sometimes try to shoot back after i have obviously shot them(not like the tip of the hopper or on the shoe we are talking mask, side of gun, centerpunched etc.). then i light them up like the fourth of july and they get mad? if you did not like getting shot, you should have gone out.

First day out with a teardrop bushy (I think I was 13) -- I thought u had to screw the ram cap in or out to adjust velocity...like a spyder or something?..bad mistake... Also my super smart friend told me that adjusting screwing or unscrewing the hammer back and forth would affect "timing" of my marker..like a cocker sear?... worse mistake. Wow retarded middle school kids like me should not have bushmasters! Come a long ways though haha.
