For some reason I would like to track down some sort of Automag whether it be a RT or just a Automag or even a Minimag. I have used a Automag before, I actually would borrow one for weeks at a time since my friend was always broke and let me use it.

I have looked on pbn, not so much on mcb yet but I was wanting to find out as to how hard parts like o-rings and or little parts that make up an Automag were to find and or if they were expensive?

I do not fully grasp all this level 7 or 10 business since I have not looked it up on the forums much.

All in all I like the accuracy of an Automag and the fact that you can use a standard hopper on it and still get 15 bps from an RT. So if any of you here know much or would like to share forum or sub-forums where the AGD is talked about seriously I would appreciate it.

i'm a mag fan from the 90's... would like to add one to my collection again but it would be pointless for me.

AO is where you want to go. i think it's automagowners.com or something

Parts: www.airgundesignsusa.com/
www.tunamart.com/

Bolts are either Level 7 or Level 10. Level 7 was the last of the old style of bolt upgrades and as such you will probably never find one that has an earlier gen bolt. the level 7 is a regular blow forward design and will easily chop paint if you short stroke the trigger or you get a ball that only half feeds. the level 10 is an antichop bolt that takes a bit of tuning using oring carrier sizes. it is really easy to tune and most used guns or valves generally come with this already tuned. the level 10 properly tuned will stop on the most brittle of paint and vent the air off and recock the gun.

You can still buy guns new from AGD, parts are cheap!!!! and you will really never need to replace parts on AGD guns, any of them. most maintenance will be a few drops of oil in the asa before a game. I have an all original minimag from 98' that has had nothing but oil, i have never replaced a single part and it was always run on co2.

Used guns can go from $150ish to $1200, depending on age condition and wether its mechanical, electro or pnuematicly modified.

I saw a RT Classic w/ a Level 10 bolt that was tuned for $250ish shipped. I guess I can always play with it and learn more about it on my own. My main worry about the automag was being able to find o-rings and also the spacers if needed. Seems like there are plenty of them around and it should not be too difficult to obtain parts and what not.

Thanks for the feedback you guys.

mags are simple, like anvil simple. if you have a L10 kit, that is all your spacer needs. the L10 replaces the powertube tip and gives you anti-chop. orings can be had by either by AGD or through Tunamart. i can even walk you through the L10 setup, which is super simple.

what are you looking for in a mag? i'll look through what BEO has(they are most of the big wigs on AO, they deal in mags like we deal in ICDs).

the one great thing about mags, and i can attest to this fact is, you won't have to replace orings at all. true story, i ran my mag this past october, and hadn't really done much with it, for years. it had a small hiss, so i got some KC troublefree, put 3 drops in the valve and it was as good as new.

I would honestly pass on the RT classic, it is not like the RT pro or Retro Valve guns. It use a banjo bolt to hold the valve in and the air passes through it from the rail. I had one many many years ago and had a major issue with the threads on the Valve tearing the orings. I suggest looking at an RT pro or XValve(all aluminium version) gun. It uses the regular thumb screw that all the other AGD guns use and IMHO is a damn better design which is why they went back to it.

Tons of used mags over at mcarterbrown.com

I picked one up few months ago for 80 bucks.

Also, Ive chopped a lot of paint with my level 7 so if that is a concern for you, level 10 might be the way to go.

All good pints, thanks again. I guess I will start looking for a newer Pro or X Valve.

I saw a really nice red smear Classic RT f/s somewhere. When I find the post I will link it here.
