Ok so i have a bko now and it has a sidewinder reg on it. Well im parting out the gun but the previous owner got the top of the reg really stuck in the asa. I have tried strap wrenches, strap wrenches with rubberbands on the reg, and hitting the asa with a hammer to lossen it and it still won't come off. What are your tricks to getting regs that are really stuck off?

maybe try some heat..... might ruin the vert adapter, ive never had a reg i couldnt take of with 2 strap wrenches, just push each wrench off each other to get more power.... maybe try some PB blaster or liquid wrench ... these are just some ideas im throwin out

Tried heating it up still didnt work. Im thinking about just cutting the asa in half to get the reg out.

Put it in a vice grio, heat it till its red, turn it out. If not, go buy some Aerokroil, which is better than liquid torch and pb blaster.

well if u can hold it with ur bare hand its not hot enough
are u worried about sratching any of it???
i would heat it up hot and try to put the vert adapter in vice grips or a vice then strap wrench the reg till it turns... ull probly mark up the asa a lot but at least ull get the reg out

I dont care about the asa but i dont want the sidewinder scratched. I think the guy put gorilla glue, no joke, on the reg threads. I heated it up and now there is some glue coming out of some spots so i think its gorilla glue because it expands. i did heat it u before to where i needed to wear gloves to get it off but this time the thing started to smoke because of the glue. Im letting it cool down cause it seems like the glue was getting burned so that might loosen it a little.

Heres a little trick.

Take a 2x4, and take a drill bit a tiny bit smaller than the od of the reg. Then cut it in half through the hole.

Now, take the peices of wood, and put your reg in between it. Put them in a vice and crank down on it. This wont, or shouldnt, scratch the reg.

Since the asa is square, and not as important as the reg, take a Crecent wrench and twist counter clockwise.

If that doesnt work, get out the propane torch, and heat that sucker up for 10-15 seconds. Aluminum doesnt get red when its hot, it stays the same color. Plus, loctite will loosen up with some heat.

Then try again, that should work. Just be careful not to scratch the pretty regulator.

if something in there is like melting it could maybe be the oring melting, but if its a liquid coming out maybe the kid used some expoxy, guriella glue i think would just burn when it gets hot, not return to liquid, since it hardens as a foam, try what OHS said with the 2x4, if that doesnt work, just keep the heat on it and then get the wrench on and try to take it of while it is hot!, dont let it cool back down
