PostPosted: Mon Feb 28, 2011 6:51 pm    Post subject: So I am looking for pump advice

So I have decided to give pump guns another go. I am looking at autococker pumps because they seem to fit most of my requirements.
Under barrel pump not a wrap around
not back bottle air
easy to maintain
I don't want a drilled body if possible (just something doesn't feel right seeing a hole there for no reason)

So now I need advice. What should I look for? What pump kits are garbage. I have been looking at mech cockers and then buying my own kit, and look at cockers with kits already on them, which way should I go. I am worried that some of the economy pump kits are just going to be horride to pump with is this wrong? I set my price limit at 200$ I know its not a ton but It should be fine enough.

I appreciate all replies but am really looking for people who have first hand knowledge

If you can find one with a CCM or CHECKIT kit already installed on the gun for under what your willing to spend, go for it. If you can find a decent mech cocker either right feed or vert. for under 80$ grab it, then order a ccm kit. The CCM kit is the be all end all kits to have, i love mine, and if you ask many more will follow.

As for the Econo kits, They work, i have a SANCHEZ machine on my dust blue, At first i was like its sloppy, but then once you get a barrel inplace, it isn't so bad.

One day we can meet up and i can let you check out the diffrence between an econo and ccm kitted cocker.

Here are some new Cocker pumps in your price range, they use the WGP pump kits. They're fine, just not as smooth as a CCM.

Another thing i forgot to mention, all the econo kits and WGP kits/clones dont have the 2nd stabalizing rod for the pump handle like CCM.

Thanks for the reply Joe, after stopping by capital the other day and talking with you and Dave I figured I would start looking for one.

I know CCM is quality but just having the CCM name adds dollar signs

i'll vouch for the checkit pump kit.. pretty good for the price if you don't want to spring for the ccm... but yeah if you have the cash ccm is the way to go....

No problem man, Glad to have met you in the process, can't wait to see that new project come together once your done. Your deff gonna have to come out play some games with us.

I picked up my 2k cocker for 60$ and added a 70$ ccm kit(there on sale as i type this) It seems like the black bodied cockers don't fetch a crowd for hoarding, so they pop up fairly cheap. so keep an eye out. i will also for ya, i always find good cocker deals. the ccm kits pop up used, but if you pick up a kit first then you have to base your marker purchase off the kit, however mcarter has them floating around the pump for sales. I hope you pick one up.

Joe D.

P.S. Thanks for donating that feedneck, saved me money on buying a ccm for that B2K4.

I was in the same boat as you when I first tried pump. I wanted to get a gun, but didn't know ANYTHING. He is what I learned from one new pump guy to another.

Get a nice pump kit. It is the main interaction between you and your gun. You will get so mad if your pump stroke is sloppy or ctaggered. Get a CCM. I had one, loved it. It was super quality. It's pricey, but they hold their value (ish) and are just really nice.

Get a pump with a single trigger. I have seen pumped superbolts and whatnot, and they just look weird, and I don't think they're as comfortable (I shot a pump'd outcast with the stock mech frame)

Get an autotrigger (they're fun, and useful)

I feel like a nice pump will coat you like 300-400. I dunno. Mine cost more, but I got a lot when I sold it.

Or just wait for Bob Long's new Marq based electro-pump. It's an inline poppit, electro pump, and it should be coming out soonish. It's only like $800!
