PostPosted: Thu May 19, 2011 1:55 pm    Post subject: Freestyle valve stem oring

Ok guys iv been trying to fab up the new valve tip yet keep running into an issue my current issue is that the gun sill work great for about 25 shots, then air will dump down barrel. Wehn i disassemble the bolt the valve stem oring is out of the groove and around the valve stemup by the tip of the bolt. Ever heard of this happeneing? I first assumed i made the valve tip a little too large but measureing the original valve tip it is still a little bit smaller. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Are you using the proper o ring? 04/05 Freestyles use -006 and FS-7s use -007 90 durometer urethane o rings.

Ok well a little update. Oring stays on without any issues at 300psi. If reg is raised to 350 pops the oring off. Hopefully i will be able to get a decent FPS without increaseing the reg or with little increase without causeing issues with that oring. I will have to do some testing when i go saturday.

Still welcome to any suggestions or insight as too why the higher pressures would cause the oring to pop out when the valve diameter is a little smaller than the proper one! Thank You!

Its currently a buna 70. In maing the valve tip kept drilling it a little larger each time till it worked and all my urethanes got pinched and sliced in half so had to move to the bunas. Didnt occur to me that i still have the buna in there! Ill pick up some urethane tomorrow and try again Thanks for the suggestion!

This. The 70 bunas jam in there pretty bad. I experienced this on the FSP that I had so much fun with.

Well thanks guys! Got some urethanes today and bumped the PSI back up and no longer have any issues! I have yet to chrono or use in game but emptied what was left of my tank and all seems good! I will find out tomorrow when i play and she is problem free since the original HR-1 valve tip broke in half. Thanks again for the help!

Also is there an advantage to the viton orings gunsmoke?

Ok so gun worked great with the exception of velocity. I was not able to get the velocity above 240FPS. We were indoors at a small field where its 260FPS so it wasnt too big a deal this time. I thought it was a little wierd cause if i had the HPR at 320 i shot like 235-240. If i turned it up to 380 it still shot 235-240. I adjusted the dwell and changed from 9-18 and at all of them shot at about 235-240FPS. i thought that it was a little strange that almost anything i did with HPR or dwell left me with the same 240FPS. I dont see how the new valve tip i have would cause this issue but im no expert.

Also i had an idea when i got home. If i was to remove the rear oring on the HR-1 bolt wouldnt it then function like the stock non-HE bolt? I thought that since the HR-1 shuts off air when in forward position that removing the oring would allow more air and allow dwell to help with velocity. I realize its a "downgrade" in efficiency but figure i would have a fully operation freestyle while i tech it. thanks for all the help so far!
