I have an old Bob Long Defiant that was barely if ever used when it was first purchased 10+ years ago. I recently tried using the gun, but ran in to issues and wasn't able to. Firstly, the power light does not stay lit, it just lights up and goes off quickly when the switch is thrown either way. It's bright one way, dim the other. I did gas the gun and it fired by itself but then would not fire with a trigger pull. I removed the fresh battery I installed and put another fresh one in and the gun would fire as soon as the battery made full contact, but the gun never fired any other way. The wires and such look ok to me, I even removed and reconnected the section to the board and had the same issues.

I've never ripped apart or worked on a gun before and have next to no tech knowledge regarding paintball. I'd like to get the gun working if it's not expensive and painstakingly difficult. It's such a nice looking gun for when it was made, it's a shame to have it sit around not working.

Sounds to me like your power switch is in need of repacement. That, and with it shooting on power up means you need to adjust your trigger set screw out a bit (top screw on the trigger).
Personally, if your Deffy is pristine and you are setting it up to play with, I would contact Nobody about reworking your existing harness or making a completely new harness, since the wiring is a weak point in ICD markers.

in addition to what Vdub said, i would also submit that one problem could be caused by your trigger switch. If it has failed and is stuck closed internally it will fire when you first turn it on and the light will respond as you suggested by coming on only momentarily on powerup. switch could have an internal fault or it could also be as Vdub suggested the trigger adjust screw is not properly adjusted/positioned. I would start by backing the trigger switch set screws out almost fully and see if that stops the fire on powerup.

the LED turning on, when powering up, but "dimming" out sound to me that its either the switch or the set screw being too far in, like what was said before.

pictures will help, as we can see if there is something visible like a FUBAR'd switch, or the ram not being set properly. if you have any questions about the harness, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the suggestions. When I get a chance tonight I'll see if I can check out what was mentioned and at least get a constant power led. I have to wait until my new tank arrives tomorrow and then have to travel to get it filled to do anything with gas.

Here's 2 pictures I took, not sure if they really help. Also, not sure how I'm supposed to mess with the trigger stuff. If it's the 3 things above and to the right of the trigger on the frame, I have no idea what even fits in those.

Hmmmm. Those pictures aren't really conclusive of anything, but your issue I'd definetly electrical. You symptoms point to a microswitch issue (like everyone said). Remove the roll pins holding the trigger switch in (two silver things on the side) and try clicking it manually.

I usually just use a small nail and a hammer. Anything small enough to fit in there and then just pound them out.

Yeah, the damn things won't budge. All I did was manage to scratch up part of the handle so far. Not sure if I'll be able to get them out.
