Take off the tray and frame, and just unscrew it.

Or take off the gauge and macro fitting, and unscrew it. It just screws into the body

I should just unscrew. You may need a strap wrench for some leverage(also a very helpful tool with these older markers)

Strap wrench FTW. If you get one, get one with a rubber strap instead of a cloth strap.

ok thanks so what is the best lube to use then?

is a lube like sleek needed for this marker vs oil like a PE gun?

The top of the reg will screw out of the body, You may need a strap wrench to get it loose. One of the small rubber ones.
